Hey, I'm Ashley, and I'm really looking forward to working with you. Struggling with your mental health can feel daunting. Seeking help is an act of courage, and it plants a seed of hope. Whether you find yourself in a season of challenge, or just want to understand yourself in a deeper way, my goal is to support you in a safe space for healing. I've worked in many different settings, from the streets of Skid Row to Residential Treatment. My priority with all of my clients is to identify what is and is not working, find the root of the problem, and support you through your healing journey. I understand that mental health issues can feel scary or overwhelming, and you may not know where to start. As we work together, I help break down the process into something that feels manageable. I want you to feel heard and understood through the entire process. You deserve healing, and I look forward to supporting you on your journey!
In our first session, we'll take time to discuss the reasons you're seeking therapy, and identify your goals. You'll learn a bit about me and how future sessions will look. We'll take time to build trust so that you feel comfortable sharing.
I use different approaches in the therapy process depending on your goals. Humans aren’t “one size fits all,” and therapy shouldn’t be either! I use a holistic approach, meaning we look at all the different aspects of your life when working towards your healing. I use different approaches such as: -Internal Family Systems: As we grow older, we keep all the younger versions of ourselves within us. It's important to revisit these younger versions of us so that we can have a more fulfilled and happy life now. -Client centered therapy- Looking at your unique experience and goals. -Cognitive Behavioral Therapy- How our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact with one another. These are my main approaches, yet when it calls for it, I include other approaches such as DBT, etc.
I work with issues including: -Prenatal mental health: any mental health conditions during/after your pregnancy -Depression and anxiety -Survivors of childhood trauma -Late stage Autism Spectrum Diagnosis: boys are more often diagnosed in early childhood due to the diagnostic criteria, and typically girls are diagnosed later into their teen and adult years -Psychosis: seeing or hearing things that aren't there, thoughts that feel scary, etc. -Teens and their families: to create a more supportive, loving, and connected family system. -Trauma- however YOU define trauma I have experience working on the streets of Skid Row, in a dual diagnosis program, and an adolescent mental health residential treatment program. I've volunteered with sexual assault survivors and in early-intervention.
