I graduated in 2015 from San Jose State University with a Master's in Social Work. I have worked in a variety of settings including community mental health organizations, small psychology clinics, and schools with youth, families and adults who are needing support navigating mental health issues or other issues that are causing a lot of stress and feeling overwhelmed. I opened my private practice in 2024 and provide telehealth in California through Grow Therapy. I have a passion for working with people who are wanting to heal from difficult childhoods, trauma and feel like misfits in their lives. I believe in de-stigmatizing mental health and approach mental health with a holistic perspective.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges or concerns you are facing. I will gather some personal history about your life and may provide brief psychoeducation and skill building so you can leave feeling like you have some tools in your pocket to start managing the stress you are facing. During this first session all the information I gather will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a very down to earth approach and do not hold myself above my clients as a fellow human being. I will meet you where you are at and have an approachable demeanor so you will hopefully feel comfortable sharing whatever is coming to your mind as well as any experiences that has happened in your life that you want to talk about and process. I have the most experience working with families, youth and individuals who have lived through trauma, families struggling with addiction issues, and mental health conditions that have impacted their lives.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I use an eclectic approach to therapy with my clients because not all clients benefit from a cookie cutter approach to therapy or a "one size fits all". Each person is different and I like to get to know them, their goals, challenges, strengths, and personal histories so I can attune to what might resonate and help them best, with their collaboration and input. Therefore, I may use CBT, attachment focused interventions, narrative therapy approaches, mindfulness, somatic interventions or psychoeducation, all in a blend or not. Not every intervention works for every person so it's good to stay on the path and keep figuring out what helps and what does not.

Humanistic

I really like to look at the whole individual and not only understand the challenges they face but also the strengths, what motivates them and gets them excited for growth as an individual, how to fulfill their potential and build their confidence and sense of self-efficacy. We, as humans, have so much potential and our life experiences and relationships can impact how and what we feel or perceive about ourselves and others. However, I hold true that we also have great potential for healing and growing a grounded sense and feeling of wholeness. Through my eclectic approach and use of interventions like CBT, motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, EMDR, and somatic techniques I like to help clients learn how to tap into their inner strengths and resources to help them gain confidence in their lives, compassion for themselves, and tools to process their life events that shaped who they are today.

Attachment-based

Attachment is a hot word today that most people have heard or learned about. There are books about attachment parenting or how to improve your relationships by understanding your attachment styles and there can be so much confusion about if you grew up with one attachment style or relationship are you stuck for life with this or not? I like to provide a safe space for people to begin to understand themselves and how their primary attachment relationships helped or hindered their sense of safety in the world and relationships. I also like to provide psychoeducation about how interpersonal neurobiology affects how we interpret the world around us from a biopsychosocial perspective. We are lucky that we can reshape our attachment style through adult relationships and begin to understand patterns of relating and interpreting different parts of our lives. It's a bit intellectual, but if you can bear with me and begin to understand what shaped us in our early lives, we can unravel a bit of our present quandaries and create change in our lives.

EMDR

I am EMDR trained but not certified. I use it through a platform so we can use bilateral stimulation through auditory or tactile sound and sensations. I use it to help process trauma and attachment issues with a lot of resourcing.
