Hello there! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, holding licenses in both New Jersey and Georgia with 8 years of experience in the field of social work. My academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Rutgers University, which paved the way for me to pursue a Master of Social Work degree at Fordham University. I specialize in working with individuals from ages 12 onwards, and through therapeutic collaboration I support the process of untangling the complex web of emotions that can be deeply interwoven with past traumas, current stressors, negative self-perception, and feelings of unworthiness.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I am dedicated to ensuring that the initial encounter in my therapeutic interactions with clients is as comfortable as possible. I understand that for some, the search for the right therapist can be arduous and anxiety-inducing. I empathize with this process. Recognizing that the therapeutic relationship is a cornerstone of the therapeutic journey, I prioritize building the trust necessary for profound therapeutic work to begin. While there is essential information to collect to support assessments and evaluations, this initial phase is also a valuable opportunity for us to get to know each other. Clients can openly share what has motivated them to take this step in their healing journey, articulate the challenges they are facing, and express the goals they aspire to achieve.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I often humorously compare myself to Curious George when it comes to my inquisitive nature. I earnestly strive to ask questions that will foster a deeper understanding of each unique individual and their experiences, recognizing that everyone is a one-of-a-kind being. There are moments when I can discern what remains unspoken, unexplored, or not fully understood. It's crucial to note that I don't claim to possess all the answers, just as clients don't have all the answers to their own questions. However, through our collaborative journey of exploration and processing, we can uncover the truths that lie within and embark on a transformative path of discovery.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my perspective, many individuals may not fully grasp the thought patterns they harbor, which can significantly contribute to the symptoms they're grappling with. Those who embark on a journey towards self-healing often become more open to embracing diverse viewpoints and perspectives on their experiences, as well as considering alternative approaches to managing their challenges. Sometimes, when one manages to escape the mental constraints they might not have even been aware of, they discover a whole new world of possibilities and opportunities. This revelation can be akin to a profound shift where one is able to experience life anew.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I strongly believe in the concept of "doing the work." Change is never a simple process, but it remains the one constant in our lives. In this ever-evolving world, individuals can adopt a proactive, reactive, or passive approach to change. As a therapist, my role is to guide and empower my clients to confront the discomfort that is often essential for the healing journey. We embark on this journey together, committing to the necessary work. I am not the ultimate solution, and I do not possess all the answers, as some of the most profound insights can be found within each individual. I serve as your co-pilot, ready to stand by your side as long as you're prepared to take flight. Together, we navigate the path that leads to liberation, ultimately reaching the other side of your destination.

Strength-Based

Many individuals remain oblivious to their own strengths until they embark on the journey of self-discovery through therapeutic work. It's surprising how often people go about their daily lives without recognizing the inherent strengths that underlie their actions and decisions. Not only does their natural strength often go unnoticed, but the idea of nurturing existing strengths or developing new ones can be a challenge to grasp and accept. As a therapist, my role is to empower my clients by acknowledging their existing strengths and highlighting areas where additional effort may be beneficial. While I strive for a strong and mutually supportive therapeutic relationship, the ultimate goal of therapy is to equip my clients to become their own therapists, instilling in them the confidence to confront the challenges they encounter, whether with or without my ongoing support.

Gender-affirming therapy

I'm grateful for the society we inhabit, and I maintain hope that it will continue to progress in the direction of respect, appreciation, and unconditional love. However, it's evident that we have not yet reached this ideal state everywhere. In places and spaces that may not be as welcoming and affirming, I offer a safe haven and refuge. Throughout my personal and professional life, I've provided support to family, friends, and countless clients on their journeys of self-discovery, recognizing that we all engage in some form of self-exploration. Regardless of who you are, I extend my respect, acceptance, and support to you, affirming every aspect of your identity at each stage of your life journey.

Trauma-Focused CBT

While this treatment approach is primarily designed for children and adolescents, I believe it can be adapted to suit individuals of all age groups. By offering a combination of psychoeducation and coping skills, we establish a strong foundation for individuals to better comprehend, prepare for, and manage the process of addressing their traumas. Each of us carries a unique story that deserves to be treated with care and given the chance to be heard, even if I am the sole listener. Your story holds significance, your voice carries weight, and you, as an individual, matter. Together, we can collaborate to nurture the journey of healing.
