Hello! I am Rosalie, a LMFT that works with individuals, couples, and teens struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions and/or interpersonal challenges. I want to acknowledge how hard it can be to ask for help even when doing well. It is courageous and takes persistence when you deal with mental health and have nothing in your tanks Therapy can feel scary from the outside, but my first priority is helping the client feel comfortable and help with expectations or questions.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Our first session includes a brief intro about therapy, limits of confidentiality, and provides space for any questions you may have. But the focus of the session is for the client to share about what is bringing them to therapy and start to establish the therapeutic relationship. Therapy is most productive when the client feels comfortable and emotional safe with their therapist. It is normal to be nervous and/or not feel like sharing much early on; but by the first couple of sessions, the client should feel like the therapist is a good fit for them and has the potential for that relationship to grow.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
As a highly sensitive person myself, I have always valued being a safe space for people. It is crucial to go at a pace comfortable for the client and provide a collaborative space where the client feels empowered as a partner in the process.
