My path to becoming a mental health provider started in rural South Texas, where I grew up and learned the importance of a supportive community. This upbringing planted the seed for helping others, especially those in vulnerable situations. While pursuing my bachelor's degree in psychology, I began working at a children's home for neglected and abused children. This experience exposed me to the mental health field, particularly in working with children who had endured complex trauma. It was here that I saw firsthand the profound impact that trauma can have on a person's development and well-being. After earning my bachelor's degree, I spent eight years as a child abuse investigator for Child Protective Services. This role in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment honed my assessment and evaluation skills. I became adept at identifying needs and connecting people with the resources they required to rebuild their lives. Through this work, I deepened my understanding of trauma and its lasting effects. During my time at CPS, I decided to further my education and pursued a master's degree in social work. After completing my degree, I worked at the local mental health authority in their children's crisis center. This experience further solidified my passion for helping those in crisis. I then transitioned into public health research ; however, after several years in research, I felt the pull to return to child and family welfare and began working as a Clinical Consultant. In this role, I focused on identifying the needs of foster care children and ensuring they received the necessary services. These experiences have shaped my practice today, where I specialize in trauma, eating disorders, body image, and ADHD. I am committed to helping individuals navigate the complexities of their mental health, drawing on my background in both direct service and research to provide comprehensive care

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize an integrative approach that combines elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Humanistic Therapy techniques. CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. Changing those maladaptive thoughts and behaviors can lead to changes in emotions and overall mental health. Humanistic therapy techniques are client-centered and focus on the whole person, including their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It aims to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment where clients can explore their feelings and achieve personal growth.
