I work with women in their 40s and 50s whose life looks great on paper but feel discontent and boxed in by their own life. After taking care of other people's needs over their own for years, too many women reach “middle age” and are faced with finding their own identity outside of their kids and career. This leaves them feeling confused, overwhelmed, and discontent. Left unaddressed, discontent quickly turns to resentment and makes matters worse. If you’re struggling with resentment in your relationships with your partner, kids, or your life, I can help. I’ve worked with hundreds of clients over the past 17 years as a therapist, helping them become more intentional about how they live their lives. In addition, I have over 17 years experience with adolescents and their parents...I love teenagers! The world has changed, and our parenting has changed with it. Teens and parents, I'd love to help you navigate and work on your relationships.

Oftentimes, it is helpful to be reminded that emotional peace and happiness are possible. I strive to create a safe and accepting environment where individuals can fully explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a meaningful way. The purpose of therapy is to embark on a path that will help you find balance within yourself and with the interpersonal relationships that you value. Although therapy can be challenging, it can also yield rewards for those who are willing to be consistent, vulnerable, and engaged. If you are open to the therapeutic process, I look forward to partnering with you on this journey. In our work together, we will find ways for you to become your most authentic self and in the process rediscover peace of mind, self-truth, and happiness.

As a seasoned therapist my experience includes a wide spectrum of mental health issues. I have a network of physicians, mental health providers, and spiritual advisors whose counsel I seek to help provide the best care for my clients. It is my goal to lead clients to ask the right questions and help them find answers that will result in a positive, forward movement in the therapeutic process. My main focus is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but use other modalities when necessary to help clients achieve the change they are seeking. My practice involves, but is not exclusive to, marriage and family counseling, depression, anxiety, bipolar issues, LGBTQ issues, aging issues, workplace issues, mediation etc. I also provide faith based counseling when requested. My practice is open to all regardless of who they are or the issues for which they may be seeking guidance. My goal is to help clients move forward positively, finding coping skills that work well for them. If in the process I or the client determine I am not the right fit, my self esteem is not tied to it. I will help them find someone who may work better for helping them to achieve their goals.

She has published two books, one on relationships and another on managing depression. She has written a couples interactive co-journal and is also working on publishing other journal series for situation-specific healing journals for life events such as healing post affair, moving forward after the end of a relationship, healing after death of a partner; to name a few. She has published multiple articles on relationships, depression, improving well-being, thriving during and after a serious health issue and reducing acute stress response. She has a YouTube Channel, “Therapy with Karen Collins” where she posts peaceful places, guided meditations, provoking ideas to consider and a segment on managing acute stress response and improving overall well-being to teach how to prevent over-responding to stressors. Hello, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in the states of Texas and Tennessee with 30 years of counseling and ministry experience. I began as a minister of the Gospel in the Southern Baptist tradition in 1993 working with the homeless to overcome the struggles of addiction and hopelessness in North Carolina and Tennessee. From there, I became a case manager in a rural oupatient behavioral health clinic helping the chronically mentally ill live independently outside of the institutional settings. As my family of five children grew, my wife encouraged me to join the military in 2007 and for the next 13 years we served alongside our Soldiers and their Families as a chaplain. There, I learned through experience how to work through the stress of multiple transitions, the unyeilding demands for time and energy, and the unjust nature of toxic environments. I learned how to support those who wanted to strengthen themselves and their relationships in these environments and to ultimately be at peace with who they are and who they want to be. As I have matured in my training and become licensed in marriage and family therapy, I have found that I now specialize in using Solution Focused therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help individuals identify their strengths and the beliefs that are guiding their behavior. With this knowledge, people can begin to choose who they want to be.
