Peace. Happiness. Love. Success. We seek them. We want them. As we see them within reach, we are knocked down by the challenges and difficulties of life. We find, instead, lives that are filled with anxiety, sadness, grief, trauma, loss and failure. I know this too well. I have experienced this in my own life and in the life of my clients. It does not matter where you are in your life. I have had celebrity clients at the top of their field. I have worked with gold medal athletes. I have worked with businessmen and women, housewives, families, adolescents. I have also worked with those who have lost everything to the ravishes of substance use and with men serving life in prison. It is possible to navigate the dangerous waters of life, but you will need a guide. I am that guide. I have excellent education from Palm Beach Atlantic University. I have a wealth of experience. I have over three decades of experience as a husband, father, grandfather, youth pastor, counselor and university professor. I have worked in the church, private practice (in Florida and the Bahamas), community mental health (specializing in crisis and families with at-risk-adolescents), foster care, substance abuse, juvenile justice and the prisons. I have maintained my relevance by teaching at the university level, advising a best-selling author on the psychological aspects of his book, and serving as a consultant to other mental health agencies. I have wonderful experience working with anxiety, depression, anger, parenting issues, challenging children and teenagers, grief, trauma, substance use issues, family and relationship issues, LGBT issues, and other issues and concerns. I have helped my clients find peace with themselves, with others and in their situations. I have helped my clients find happiness, even amid loss. I have helped my clients find belonging and love in healthy and supportive relationships. I have helped my clients increase their ability to succeed by changing their thinking. One of the foundations of my life and my work was written by M. Scott Peck in The Road Less Travelled. He wrote, “Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths… Life is a series of problems. Do we want to moan about them or solve them? Do we want to teach our children to solve them?” Let’s start today to solve some of life’s problems and to begin to grasp peace, happiness, love and success.

Hello all. I'm a Marriage and Family Therapist who graduated from Nova Southeastern University. I have a diverse and valuable background in supporting individuals through various life transitions and challenges. My experience as both a therapist and a case manager provided me with a well-rounded perspective on the needs of the clients. Due to this experience, I focus on working with young adults and adults on challenges such as life transition, boundaries, values, anxiety, family relationships, and communication. Working with clients in the therapy room with these challenges is crucial as these are common areas where many people need support and guidance.

Welcome! I am Carolyne Cole, a marriage and family counselor. I specialize in marriage and family therapy. I also work with young adults and seniors who are bravely taking steps toward bringing positive change into their lives. My approach to therapy is pretty eclectic. I also offer spiritual counseling if you are seeking to explore or solidify your spiritual beliefs. I am also a Certified Grief Therapist. I began my calling in mental health following my retirement from a 35 year career in education. I am a published author and I hold a master’s degree in American Studies, and I have earned the distinguished National Board Certification in English Education. Early on I experienced an unwavering passion to help others. This deep-seated desire led me to pursue a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling. My aspirations didn't stop there. Upon venturing into the social service field I gained a strong interest in working with deviant youth, giving me the motivation to complete a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, along with a Master's in Social Science with a concentration in Criminal Justice. After attaining four college degrees, I became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. For over 8 years, I have dedicated myself to serving the community and gaining invaluable experience along the way. I have acquired educational, professional, and personal experiences which help guide others on their healing journey, overcoming trauma, cultivating emotional stability, and addressing psychological distress. The utmost focus is to extend a helping hand to those grappling with anxiety, family conflicts, depression, and ADHD. By having a down-to-earth demeanor, and professional expertise with a genuine yet compassionate nature; the aim is to create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where you can explore your inner strengths, discover resilience, and embrace personal growth.

I am deeply honored that you are considering me as your counselor. I have experienced how difficult it is to choose a counselor and my hope is to make that choice as easy as possible for you. Despite my best efforts to give you the information you need on this page, the information that’s important for choosing a counselor is different for everyone. I have decided to focus on Austin-the-counselor on this page but, if you would like to ask me any questions about Austin-the-person or about counseling with me before making your decision, I would be happy to answer your questions. Since becoming a counselor, I have worked in a variety of community counseling settings. I have worked with clients from ages 3 through 80 and with individuals, couples, and families. With that breadth of experience, very little shocks or surprises me and I have gotten a pretty good sense of where the types of counseling that play to my strengths as a counselor overlap with the types of counseling that are helpful for my clients. This sense (along with learning about lots and lots of research into what helps people find and maintain mental health) has led to the following guiding principles that shape all the counseling I do: 1) The client is always in charge. People are complex and come with years of history that I can never know all of. I know a lot of things but you will always be the one who decides what you want to get out of counseling, how we work towards that goal, whether or not what we’re doing seems to be working, and when we’re done. I will support you in all of those decisions: I will give you information about different possibilities and what’s likely to work, I will help you understand how you feel about different options and possibilities, I will even tell you what I would advise doing but the final say is always yours. 2) Change and health happen through relationships. I could write a book about how I know this is true and would be happy to have the opportunity to convince you of it but for here I will focus on two implications that it has on counseling. The first is that the work we do in counseling will touch on how your relationships impact your health. No matter what you come in for, there are always relational implications of change and relational factors that contribute to whatever it is that you came to counseling to change. The second implication is that the relationship between you and me matters. Change can only happen in counseling because of that relationship. It’s my responsibility to make our relationship a place where you feel heard and accepted and that is always my first priority because nothing else we do really works without it. 3) Counseling should be efficient. Counseling has significant costs in time and money. I think the benefits far outweigh the costs but if I can give you the benefits while helping you save on the costs then I want to do that. Also, people come to counseling because they are experiencing pain. I want to end that pain as quickly as possible. So I choose approaches to counseling that generally work more quickly. That being said, I don’t want to you to feel better for three to six months and then need counseling again because we only worked on symptom relief and didn’t bring healing to the underlying causes. That doesn’t seem very efficient to me. So my goal is to provide as long-lasting and complete help as possible in as little time as possible.
