Hello, I’m Elizabeth Vah! A bilingual licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of clinical experience. Graduated with a a master's degree in counseling from the University of Texas in Austin. Completed an internship at Seton Medical Center working in the emergency room and hospital's specialty clinics. Clinical experience includes working in outpatient and inpatient settings with adolescents, adults, and elderly clients. Specialized in the treatment of chronic stress, anxiety, depression, difficult life transitions, grief, and chronic illness management. My work with clients is aimed at helping my clients meet their goals and cope better with life's stressors. My clinical work included working with clients diagnosed with chronic stress, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship issues, and grief. Treatment is focused on developing strategies to better manage mental illness, provide support during difficult times in life, increase strengths, learn self regulation techniques, and develop coping strategies. I have also treated elderly clients experiencing depression, anxiety, and adjusting to life transitions.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
We will get to know each other, complete an intake to get a better clinical picture of you, and identify your goals for counseling. We will then meet for six weekly sessions to work on your goals. After the 5th session we will decide if treatment needs to continue if you find there are other goals you would like to work on in session.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I have completed extensive trainings in different therapeutic models to include EMRD, CBT, dialectical behavior therapy, and solution focus care. In my practice I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to treat a variety of conditions. CBT is an evidence based treatment model used to treat anxiety, depression, insomnia, sleep problems among other issues. CBT helps you better understand how your thoughts impact your feelings/emotions and behaviors. You will learn specific strategies to reframe and refocus your negative thoughts to more positive ones. I strive to help you improve your overall health and functioning.
