I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Minnesota. I received my master's degree from the University of Minnesota Mankato and have been practicing as a therapist for over 10 years. I would describe myself as a clinical therapist who is grounded in relationship-based therapy that incorporates reflective practice from a trauma informed lens. I believe in giving grace and holding space in order to fully explore patterns and behavior with a holistic view. I view therapy as a partnership based in empathy and unconditional positive regard with the goals of empowerment and personal growth.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, the focus will be to build a relationship and get to know each other. We will explore your specific concerns and formulate goals for future sessions. I will approach this session with curiosity coupled with unconditional positive regard to help create safety and allow you to control the pace.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am passionate about individual and family work, considering the person in their environment, and incorporating cultural humility into all aspects of the therapeutic relationship. I am committed to supporting the goals of achieving work/life balance, of whole person health, and in finding ways for you to accomplish your goals.

My treatment methods

Trauma-Focused CBT

I'm nationally certified in TF-CBT since 2019. This modality is ideal for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma and is a time limited evidence-based intervention that is effective at reducing symptoms that cause distress.

Relational

I'm a relationship-based therapist, meaning my primary focus is creating a strong therapeutic relationship with you using authenticity and curiosity to create trust. The goal is to help you develop new ideas and thinking patterns about relationships and use the therapeutic relationship as a model to create healthier relationships with the people around you.

Strength-Based

Strength-based therapy is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on your internal strengths and resourcefulness, rather than weaknesses and deficits. The focus of sessions set up a positive mindset that helps you find your strengths and builds resiliency. The main reason we will explore problems is to discover the inner strengths you can use to explore solutions.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is a type of therapy that looks at the family system as a whole with the goal of improving relationships and reducing conflict. Family therapy can focus on anything from attachment styles to parenting to family patterns related to mental health. Family therapy can help examine foundational beliefs and values, how they were formed and how they contribute to the presenting concern.

Eclectic

I have training in other modalities, including play therapy, narrative therapy, and reflective practice. I am certified in Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP), which is an approach designed to use data to examine available evidence to make clinical decisions, particularly in the context of therapy using research across evidence-based practices.
