Glad you stopped by! I'm Larry Goble, a licensed Clinical Social Worker. Taking the step to talk to a therapist is not easy. You are showing courage and determination to explore what it might be like. In working with folks who are feeling stuck, anxious, maybe sad and confused, I find using a practical and sometimes humorous approach helps to learn and develop specific ways to counter stress, manage thoughts and feelings that can overwhelm you, and to increase self-confidence.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

We start with understanding what has happened that led you to decide to contact us now. We look at what pushes and pulls you face such as family, work, relationships, spirituality, medical issues, and physical health. We will work as a team in a safe, supportive environment. We begin to summarize what we've talked about identifying what issues we start to work on. A plan of how we move forward is discussed and we agree to our first plan of action. To continue learning and growing, we plan together activities that will add to what you have been learning. What is then important is that weus decision on specific steps to practice, think about, and see how those help.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I’m practical and humorous blending several therapeutic approaches to fit your situation that feels right and understandable to you. I'm direct and transparent, recommending concrete steps and activities for you to achieve your goals. We do this in session and with homework to carry on the work between sessions.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Recognize the interaction between how we think, how we feel, and how we act. t is our style of thinking that causes emotional difficulties and maladaptive behaviors. As such, the cognitive therapist helps you identify your unhealthy thoughts, challenge and dispute them, and eventually learn to replace them with healthier alternatives.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT encourages mindfulness, acceptance of difficult thoughts and feelings, and the pursuit of values-based goals. It also emphasizes the importance of taking committed action in line with one's values, even in the presence of difficult thoughts and emotions.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy utilizes mindfulness, stress reduction, guided imagery, hypnosis, and storytelling. The goal is to stop regretting the past and dreading the future to live in the present. It can be seen as a meditative state with increased focus on desired outcome. Hypnosis uses neurological reframing to process trauma events.
