Hello and welcome. You have taken a big step towards helping yourself. I hope that I have the privilege of working with you. My name is Yvette Ramirez, and I am a licensed professional counselor. I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I continued my education at Capella University and graduated with a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling. I started my counseling career working with clients I visited in their homes and helped them understand their diagnosis, teach them how to cope with their symptoms, and taught the importance of medication adherence. I was promoted to the Integrated Care department where I practiced solution-focused therapy with clients whose medical issues exasperated their mental health issues, or vice versa. I was trained and certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in the State of Texas and continue to utilize CBT in my practice today. I was promoted to a supervisory position for the Assertive Community Treatment Team and led a team of 13 case managers, nurses, and LCDCs, who worked with clients who were high utilizers of the local mental health hospitals and were in crisis often. I was the lead counselor for the team. and was trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy to assist our clients with the trauma they have endured and taught them to challenge the negative thoughts they had about themselves regarding the trauma. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming to help those who have lived through a traumatic event that is causing distress in their lives, or clients who endure distress they find difficult to handle. I have worked with individuals, couples and families seeking counseling for over 10 years, both online and in person, and expanded my counseling career working with children, adolescents, and teenagers now for 8 years.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, we will review your intake information together, and I will ask you questions to get to know you better. I will then suggest the different therapies that would be most helpful and explain how these therapies can assist you in improving your symptoms. I usually end the session teaching you a coping skill that can help you through the week until we meet again, and we can set your goals for therapy.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I find that working with adolescents and teenagers in art and narrative therapy helps them to express themselves. I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming and Trauma- Focused- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help adolescents, teenagers, and adults process trauma. I utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for those who have self-harm tendencies and overwhelming emotions. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for those who have anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, along with many other issues. I have experience with the LGBTQ+ population and different multicultural backgrounds in personal issues, relationship issues, family issues, and adoption. I enjoy helping people every day to reach their goals. Thank you so much for visiting my profile. I look forward to working with you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my biggest strengths are empathy and having a person- centered approach. I know that life can hard, and sometimes we need tools and skills to help us get through those times and we can continue using those skills and tools for the rest of our lives. I am outgoing and friendly and believe that comes across in my counseling style as well. I like to build trust with my clients and feel that are working together.
