I have over a decade of experience treating clients at the clinical level. As a former Army Chaplain, I have assisted Soldier and Family members in the most extreme circumstances - to include combat. As a fellow human being, I meet my clients on common ground to assist them in gaining traction and moving forward. I come beside people to help them see their strengths, capabilities, and new possibilities. I help people to find a ray of hope when their life is stuck at the midnight hour.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

When we first meet, I will ask you key questions to get a snapshot of you and your current situation. We will connect on your terms. You will be the focus. Depending upon your story, I may ask questions about a triggering experience, your family experience, your thoughts about your experience, and where you want therapy to take you. I will summarize my initial perceptions and indicate the way ahead.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a provider is the ability to quickly connect and establish the foundation for a clinical relationship. I excel at “getting” you as a whole person rather than defining you as a diagnosis. Every aspect of your life is important to me.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Life happens - and I get it. We all have filters that frame how we think about life - what we believe about it - and how life’s events make us feel. As people have shared their stories, I have been a “guide by their side” assisting them in identifying the thoughts and beliefs that shape their outlook. When we better understand our thought processes, we can better manage our quality of life.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Listening and reflecting has helped my clients for over a decade. As a Combat Veteran assisting other Combat Veterans, I understand trauma and its consequences first hand. When we meet, you will get to choose your level of disclosure of your traumatic experience. We will work together as a team to examine, discuss, and evaluate just how your experience impacts you; and we will construct a more positive and healthy way ahead for your life.

Christian Counseling

I served as an Army Chaplain for 20 years and have been licensed/ordained/ seminary trained as professional clergy for 37 years. At the heart of any issue lies a spiritual issue. You are welcome to incorporate your faith into treatment. I will be happy to meet you where you are at spiritually and assist you with clarifying your situation.
