Often, we all go through difficult times. Times of despair, painful circumstances, and distress; Situations that many times affect our peace of mind and our relationships with ourselves and others. Sometimes, we even question the purpose of our lives because we feel like there is no purpose for what we are going through. As a caring clinician, I allow and encouraged my client to create a space for healing, where they feel in control of choosing their own path to freedom and sense of control.

I am a clinically licensed bilingual mental health therapist at Pathways to Breakthroughs located in Maryland. For 10 years, I have provided compassionate strength-based therapeutic services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. I conduct diagnostic assessments and create treatment plans that will support and empower clients to manifest change in their lives. I value the importance of holding a safe space for clients to share and process their experience of life. Listening and helping clients find the way that works best for them is a privilege that I do not take lightly. I believe everyone needs a space to share, identify, process and determine “what now” as that is what helps us better manage our present and create our future.

Greetings and salutations. I am, James Howard, your Licensed Clinician that will be assisting you on your journey to Maslow's Self-actualization (Trust me, you'll understand the reference later.) I sit in the Therapeutic counseling chair not by chance, but by hard earned life experiences and a great deal of studying that I look to enrich my clients with to help them find their mental peace and balance to a life that is rancorous and boisterous. I earned my Master’s Graduate Degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2020, graduating with honors from Bowie State University in the top 1 percent of the class and currently am doctoral candidate. I read and give a great deal of study to learning and practicing the use of various modalities to be able to assist my clients in finding their path. Within the field of psychology, I have authored papers dealing with relationships and family, as well as trauma. When not seeing Clients, I am a father of two young men who are about to enter into the world. I enjoy singing badly at karaoke and reading fiction novels. In my spare time, I author my own works of fiction and currently have published novels, screenplays, and graphic novels.

Hello! I'm Courtney a psychotherapist. It has been a dream of mine to work with others since a very young age. Interesting story, growing up my mother and grandmother watched soap operas. One of the actresses was a psychotherapist and helped people. From that point on, I said I wanted to be a psychotherapist when I got older. Before I was old enough to work, I volunteered. My experience over many years in the field has provided me with so many opportunities that I believe have shaped the person I am today. I have been fortunate to work in communities, hospital, group homes, jails, and a head start program. These experiences helped me to see individuals in different environments with various challenges and complexities these individuals faced. I bring all of this experience to my role as a psychotherapist. My experience allows me to understand how certain environments and experiences directly affect people. It also gives me insight into the overall picture which is extremely important when treating clients who have had traumatic experiences and mental illness.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience working with individuals, families and groups. My areas of expertise are ADHD, anger management, adjustment to new transitions in life, anxiety, depression and postpartum. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic and Person Centered Therapy. Whether you’re feeling the pressure of juggling multiple roles, feeling the weight of all the demands and expectations, or trying to cope with depression, anxiety or low self self-esteem, you don’t have to walk this path alone. Talking and making sense of your experiences can help you learn and understand more about yourself and what you need moving forward. Therapy is an educational tool and a safe outlet to help you gain clarity, insight, and awareness, and can help you adopt the skills necessary to overcome obstacles and improve your mental health. I have supported parents with teaching and educating their children on how to manage their child's behaviors in the least restrictive environment. I support individuals that are struggling with stress, anxiety and depression by educating them on ways to manage their emotions. Hello I'm Angelina. Are you feeling frustrated, irritable , and mad at the world? Are you ready to feel at peace, and proud of the way you are living your everyday life? We all have challenges in life, and sometimes additional support is necessary. No matter how small or overwhelming the challenge I approach treatment from a place of non judgment to identify the root of problems as opposed to offering a temporary fix. During our first session I will take time to get to know you. I will ask about your past experiences with therapy, and what you want to accomplish during our tome together. A short assessment will also be conducted to identify any past trauma so I am better able to support you. Follow-up sessions will be used to continue building the therapeutic relationship, and begin working towards positive change. Together I can support you in identifying stressors, and learning healthy coping mechanisms to support long term wellbeing. I take time to learn about client's personalities, strengths , and specific areas of focus. Together we can identify tools to address symptoms of anxiety, depression and substance use. My goal is to collaborate with you. And create an individualized plan that can support you in becoming the best version of yourself. Let's talk, I am here to support!

I am Ketty - licensed clinical therapist. Also a Black female and first generation American of Caribbean descent - if you know, you know. And I am here for all your stories because they deserve to be heard, and you deserve to be seen. In the last few years, I have had the opportunity to practice in diverse settings and at various levels of care, and I have found myself the most at home and energized supporting clients on their journey to self-discovery. I have had first hand experience with the challenges and added barriers that one may encounter simply existing as a person of color: at work, at school, and at home. From the generations of unresolved trauma, to the attachment ruptures and dysfunctional family dynamics to the endless systemic challenges, there needs to be a safe space for healing.  This is why this work is important: to break the harmful cycles, to make sure your pain is no longer overlooked or ignored simply because "you are strong".  Glow Up came to be from a passion of mine to educate, heal and empower others to embrace their whole life story. An opportunity to refine the values and boundaries that allow you to experience the beauty of relationships on your terms, and reconcile the painful experiences and devastating memories into intentional, purposeful and "whole" living.  Using a trauma-informed approach as well as attachment based and emotion focused interventions, we work together to identify your needs and your goals, and develop a personalized treatment plan that works for you. I am committed to providing you with the space to heal and thrive, to make use of humor and compassion, and to remain authentic and present every step of the way.

I’m delighted to see that you have taken a step towards investing in You! I will challenge you to think outside of the box. My priorities in therapy are helping clients build awareness around negative thoughts and finding the drive to build skills needed to support change. I pride myself on being empathetic, authentic, and open. I will consider your life experiences, cultural background, and values to meet you where you are. My goal is to create the most positive therapeutic relationship and open atmosphere. I am an Army Veteran, and I have a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I am also a certified transformation and life coach that empowers individuals to make and sustain positive life changes. I help individuals who are struggling with different aspects of their lives. As a clinician, I work with individuals who are seeking mental health care for anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, individuals who may have a lack of motivation, needing guidance towards self-care, and ways to become a better person in general. The motivation to begin a private practice came from years of working with many different individuals in mental health and realizing that there is not a ‘one fits all’ scenario to helping people. I wanted to reach more people in a more authentic manner.

Welcome! I'm an LCSW-C in Maryland and earned my MSW at the University of Maryland at Baltimore. I've been practicing over thirty five years and because I've loved the time I've spent in this work, the time has flown! I've worked in the mental health industry at many levels, and this helps me understand how to connect clients with the best type and level of treatment for them. My experience includes private practice/outpatient, inpatient care as well as running an innovative intensive outpatient care program for active seniors as a clinical director. I've also work for organizations which reviewed care, collaborating with the treating provider to ensure the quality of care is of the highest it can be. As a social worker, I was trained from day one to provide client-centered, strengths-based, unconditionally positive regard, 'person in an environment' therapy. This means that I begin where the client is, and I focus throughout on building and maintaining a therapeutic relationship that supports my client in helping them use our work to achieve what is important to them. I avoid using too many labels and/or medicalizing my client, and because I look at people as not just individuals but as embedded in various life environments, I teach my clients to understand themselves in those contexts as well as how they can better navigate their thoughts and behaviors within the various parts of their lives with greater emotional and behavioral success. Having worked closely with psychiatrists and various prescribers (nurse practitioners, physician assistants, CRNP's, etc.) over the years, I've gained extensive knowledge on how to direct clients regarding who to see/where to go regarding medical concerns and medication issues. It is important, for example, to rule out at certain times, particular medical issues which may be causing mental health symptoms.

With all of the challenges that life can throw at us, it is easy to feel overwhelmed or helpless. Life satisfaction and happiness might seem like distant goals with no clear path forward to reach them. You may find that you are spending more and more time stuck in your own head, perseverating on your struggles and acting as your own harshest critic. To me, therapy rooted in compassion and empathy can be a fantastic tool for navigating these challenges and discovering meaning and self-empowerment. Having begun my career at a community mental health clinic, I have experience working with a diverse population of adult clients from many socioeconomic, racial, and cultural backgrounds and with a variety of presenting concerns and challenges. I specialize in treatment for anxiety, depression, and trauma as well as struggles with substance use and always adapt my therapeutic techniques to the individual needs of my clients. My philosophy is that therapy is a partnership between client and therapist to help foster healthy coping skills, personal growth, self-compassion, and understanding of oneself.

Life is a journey with highs and lows, and sometimes, we just need help navigating. I am happy to be part of that with you. I believe that support makes all the difference in a person’s life when they face challenges and provides a safe space that is full of compassion, empathy, and free of judgment. Each person is unique, and worthy of unconditional positive regard and acceptance, regardless of personal circumstances or challenges. By spending time strengthening my relationships with clients, I am better able to understand their needs and how to best support them. Counseling is a partnership between the client and the counselor. I have an undergraduate in psychology and a master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and I am licensed in the state of Maryland

Welcome! My name is Gisele THompson, and I am happy that you are here. It means that you need some sort of help or support as you navigate an issue in your life. It can be from childhood, the more recent past or is a current issue with which you are dealing right now. Please know that everyone goes through these things and it is just a matter of finding someone to work through these issues, and challenges with you. I am happy to do that with you. I have worked with people with issues for over thirty years. Whether it has been children, teens, young adults, adults, individuals, couples, families or seniors who are dealing with life challenges, we have successfully navigated down their path so that they could get to the other side of the challenge. For some, it has been easy without a lot of work to do, just understanding the hows and whys of what is occurring. For others, more work is involved as they deal with relationships of one sort or another. There is always work for the client to do and it is my job and my honor to help you to do these things. You are not alone. I am here and we will work together in whatever challenge you have that is creating an issue in your life.

When I work with clients, I have one agenda: for you to thrive on your terms. If you’re not sure what those terms might be – if the only thing you know right now is that what you’re currently doing isn’t working, that’s all we need to get started. We can talk about whatever you're struggling with, including squirmy topics like work (including layoffs), loneliness, parentification, ADHD, caregiving, infertility, and the perinatal era. Add together truth, practicality, and yearning. Pull out an evidence-based toolkit, add a dash of woo, and together, we’ll unpack what you’re facing and craft a pathway forward, one where you’ll feel equipped to handle what you’re experiencing. I’ve worked as a therapist for more than a decade, most of it via distance platforms, and I’ll support you with content between sessions to supplement our time together. If you want to get unstuck and find the heart of what holds you back, then we’ll be a good match. Honesty doesn't have to be harsh. It can come with sensitivity and compassion and be built on trust. My voice is soft, my support is nourishing, and my insight is sharp.

Board Certified Licensed Clinical Independent Social Worker. I am licensed in Maryland and Washington DC and have 19+ years extensive experience serving in various behavioral and mental health settings. I am Certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) who provides client - centered psychotherapy. I offer a safe, warm, therapeutic, judgement- free space for Adults (18+) and Older Adults (65+). Each client will be met where they are, with acceptance and empathy. Life happens and we encounter challenges at one point or another. Negative thoughts and beliefs often control how we think, feel and relate. Over time, our negative emotions and pervasive thought patterns may become overwhelming and repressed. We will reflect upon any challenges you may have; including past and present. And as a team, we will get to a root cause, identify your trigger(s) and work collaboratively to develop insight, awareness, coping skills and tools to build your resilience, so you can arrive at answers within yourself. In essence, I'll support and empower you through your journey.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Maryland rather than a city like Baltimore?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Maryland from Hagerstown to Ocean City! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Maryland.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
