I am an eclectic therapist meaning I pull from various types of therapy to help you identify their needs, make progress and start feeling better.
First session
The first session consists of getting to know you and gathering important information such as why you chose to come to therapy. We will work on goal-setting and I will provide you with relevant information to support you in meeting your goals.
Strengths
My approach to therapy varies based on your individual needs. I most frequently use Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Attachment-based Therapy as modalities that help me support you in building a shared understanding of your experiences, and allow us to work together to make progress in your goals. My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. I regularly check in with you about how sessions are going and value your feedback for my own self-growth but most importantly for you to get the most out of your session. I occasionally use humor as a therapeutic tool (and when appropriate) because laughter is the best medicine.
Ideal clients
I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for young adults who may be dealing with the challenges of transitions in their life such as moving out, moving on from relationships, starting school or their careers, recent losses and family conflicts. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, and stress. I work to help you navigate these transition periods and to build skills to allow yourself feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life.
Treatment methods
EMDR
I am an EMDR-trained clinician in pursuit of becoming EMDR certified. I have been practicing with EMDR for the past 3 years. EMDR therapy is an effective therapy that is used to target memories and help you process how you feel and interpret memories providing relief and healing.
Eclectic
I integrate techniques from Attachment-Based, Compassion-Focused, Strengths-Based, Trauma-Informed Care, Ego States/Parts Work (pulling from Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapies, as well as psychoeducation. I change my approach based on your needs for treatment.
