I am Lynne Emmons-Boyd, a licensed therapist, and have been practicing for over 15 years. I enjoy working with clients who are seeking help with stressors which lead to symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, loneliness, poor self-image, and other areas of life functioning. My hope is to assist with learning new skills and ways to cope and improving personal wellness. I have worked with individuals, couples and families to support conflict resolution, and improve the ability to have more effective communication. My counseling approach is person-centered with a focus on increasing self-awareness and personal empowerment.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session should be the time to get to know one another, establish the expectations of the sessions, and beginning to establish a rapport.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I feel a strength that I possess is that I stress the importance of therapy as being an organic process where the relationship can be established and the process of working on positive change happens as the client become comfortable with exploring the reasons therapy is being sought.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

The goal is to focus on strength to build upon, to foster personal growth to overcome challenges.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

The goal is to focus on the thoughts, feelings and behaviors which are interconnected, so in identifying and challenging dysfunctional automatic thought and find new ways to address and improve the client decision making and work toward wellness.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

In utilizing the person-centered approach my goal is to partner with the client to ensure the client is the "expert" of self. The goal is to empower the client which will enable the individual to discover new ways of helping self and improve wellness.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

In utilizing Mindfulness I try to assist the client with being able to purposely focu attention on the present moment with openness and without judgment, allowing the client to become more self-aware and able to learn new skills and sense of self. Also helps to reduce stress, boost well-being, and improve overall wellness with the ability to learn new skills for personal growth.

Reality Therapy

In utilizing a goal-oriented approach, I try to support the client in understanding the importance of the "here and now" focus which can help the individual take responsibility for their lives by making better more effective choices. I also like to utilize an aspect of consequential thinking to help with making more informed choice.
