Hi! I have been in the field 20+ years and continue to feel honored to provide a space of curiosity, reflection, non-judgement and authenticity in order to support individuals and couples in making the changes they want to make in their own lives and in relationships. I have worked with people across various cultures and in many different walks of life-from people struggling with addiction, to immigrants resettling in the US, to people needing some support in navigating a life transition.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I like to let clients know that a first session is a "getting to know you" session. I do not do any emotional "deep dives", as I do not know how far to take you, and you do not know or trust me enough for that work. I will ask questions about what is bringing you in, your goals for therapy, information about you and your life that feels helpful for me to know, and what you might expect from the therapy process based on what you are coming in for. At the end of the session, I will ask you if it feels like a good fit for us to work together, and then we decide on a frequency of sessions to start. I typically recommend weekly to every other week to start therapy to get some momentum in the process.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I think my favorite term a client once used to describe me was an "emotional detective". I work to understand not only what you are saying in session but also help you organize and better understand what you are feeling, what you might not be consciously aware of yet, and help bring awareness to what you are "not saying" that might also be a place to focus attention. I work with people quite a bit from "Internal Family Systems" which is looking at "parts of self" and understanding your self with more clarity and less self-judgement.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Are you someone who hides behind humor to avoid pain? Do others often report seeing you as resilient, when you feel tired, taxed, and alone? Are you interested in change-whether that be a making a tangible change in life or a change to how to navigate your inner world and coping? Are you ready to heal? Do you want to improve your connection with your partner? I work well with individuals and couples who want the support of therapy to make changes in their life and in their coping in order to live with more peace and life satisfaction.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I utilize EMDR to support clients in healing from trauma such as sexual assault, abuse, or emotional neglect so that you can leave "the past in the past". I have also found EMDR helpful for improving self-confidence, reducing anxiety, and improving body image.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I utilize EFT to work with couples and support couples in learning ways to engage in more effective communication, better understand themselves and their partner, and learn to repair after conflict and attachment injuries.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS is helpful for people to better understand their inner world and learn ways to feel more in charge in how they respond to others and the world around them and to their own triggers with more “responsiveness” and less reactivity.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

An approach that supports people in operating with more mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
