Janet Martinez
I’m Janet Martinez solo owner of Blossoming Minds Clinical Group- a Licensed Psychologist with 17 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through challenges such as trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, and emotional regulation.
My methods are grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Family Systems work, which allows me to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs.
I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focus, Mindfulness, and Family Therapy to help clients develop healthier coping strategies and improve their overall well-being. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s unique needs, with a focus on building emotional resilience, improving communication, and promoting lasting change.
First session
In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and building a safe, supportive space. I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, current concerns, and what you’d like to get out of therapy. We’ll discuss your goals and talk about how I can support you moving forward. You’re welcome to share at your own pace—this is your space, and there’s no pressure to have it all figured out right away.
Strengths
My greatest strengths as a therapist lie in my ability to build strong, trusting relationships while using evidence-based approaches to create meaningful change. I combine structure with empathy, helping clients feel safe while also challenging them to grow. My methods are grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Family Systems work, which allows me to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. I focus on measurable progress, emotional insight, and real-life skill building that leads to long-term success.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients do not need to have everything figured out; however, they demonstrate a willingness either independently or with caregiver support—to engage in the therapeutic process. I work best with individuals and families who are open to learning new strategies, participating in treatment consistently, and collaborating toward meaningful, measurable goals. Ultimately, I aim to support clients in building practical skills, increasing self-awareness, improving emotional regulation, and achieving greater independence and stability across home, school, and community environments.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In my practice, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns and work on developing more realistic and balanced thoughts. CBT gives you practical tools to manage anxiety, depression, and stress by changing the way you respond to challenges in daily life.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
In my practice, I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support clients in managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and increasing emotional resilience. DBT helps you develop skills in four core areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. I integrate these skills into our sessions to help you build balance between acceptance and change, so you can respond more effectively to life’s stressors.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness-based therapeutic strategies are integrated into treatment to help clients increase present-moment awareness, improve emotional regulation, and reduce impulsive or maladaptive responses. These interventions emphasize nonjudgmental observation of thoughts and behaviors to enhance self-control and coping skills.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution-Focused therapeutic strategies are integrated to help clients identify and build upon existing strengths, exceptions to problem behavior, and achievable short-term goals. Interventions focus on reinforcing adaptive behaviors that have previously led to success, promoting functional change through goal-directed conversations and reinforcement of observable progress.
