If you’re here, chances are life feels heavy right now, and maybe you’re tired of pretending you’re okay when you’re not. I get it. Being a teen or young adult can feel like too much sometimes; emotions are big, people don’t always understand, and everything seems to be changing all at once. Hi, I’m Shimyne Homidas, LCSW, and I’m glad you’re here. Reaching out for support is a powerful first step, and you don’t have to do this alone. I am the heart behind In Your Space, a place for real conversations, real emotions, and real growth.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting teens and young adults through major life transitions, from emotional healing and identity work to rebuilding after trauma. If you are feeling overwhelmed by emotions that feel too big, stuck in patterns that hurt, or unsure how to cope with everything happening around you. In this space, you’ll find support to manage self-harm urges, ease anxiety and depression, rebuild confidence, and start feeling grounded again, at your own pace, in your own way.
I use tools from DBT, CBT, and Strengths-Based Therapy, but mostly, I listen. Together, we’ll work on managing emotions, coping with stress, and restoring a sense of balance and control in your life.
So, if you’re struggling to find your place, understand your emotions, or just want to feel more like yourself again, this is your space to slow down, breathe, and reset. You’re not broken, nor do you need fixing. You just need a space to feel safe enough to Heal, Grow, and Rediscover your strength: in your space. My Mission: Finding your strength in your space.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Think of DBT like a toolbox full of real-life skills for dealing with big emotions, tough relationships, stress, and even those times when your thoughts feel totally overwhelming. It doesn't make your problems disappear; it teaches you how to deal with them in a way that makes life manageable.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Remember, “The way you think affects the way you feel and act, so if you can learn to catch and change unhelpful thoughts, you can change your mood and your behavior too.” CBT can help you feel more in control of your emotions, your thoughts, and your life.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Imagine this: Your mind is racing, you're thinking about that text you shouldn't have sent, a test you might fail, what your friends really think of you, and suddenly you're spiraling. Mindfulness-Based Therapy helps you pause, breathe, and actually notice what's going on in your body, your mind, and the world around you without freaking out or judging yourself. It's like learning how to sit with your emotions instead of getting totally pulled under by them.
Strength-Based
Strengths-Based Therapist is simple, instead of focusing on your struggles, mistakes, or labels, it helps you see your strengths, your resilience, and what makes you YOU, even if life's been hard.
