Holly Gutierrez
If you've been feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or like you're carrying the weight of everything on your own, you're not alone. I work with adults navigating anxiety, burnout, depression, relationship stress, and major life transitions. My goal is to provide a supportive, thoughtful space where you can slow down, gain clarity, and begin making changes that help you feel more confident in yourself and your relationships. Together, we'll work to better understand the patterns behind what you're experiencing. We'll explore what fuels overthinking, people-pleasing, conflict, or emotional shutdown while building practical tools for boundaries, communication, and managing difficult emotions. My approach combines insight and self-understanding with practical strategies, so you leave therapy with both a deeper understanding of yourself and tools you can use in everyday life.
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and self-aware, but still feel stuck in patterns like overthinking, people-pleasing, or repeating the same relationship conflicts.
First session
The first session is a chance to talk about what's been bringing you to therapy and what you'd like help with. We'll discuss the challenges you've been facing, any questions you have, and what you're hoping will feel different as we work together. You don't need to have the right words or a clear plan before you start. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to begin, and that's completely okay. We'll take things one step at a time and work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Strengths
One of my strengths is helping people make sense of what's been feeling confusing or overwhelming. Together, we'll look beneath the surface to understand why certain situations, emotions, or relationships keep affecting you the way they do. When things make sense, they often start to feel more manageable. I also believe therapy should be more than just talking about problems. I'll gently challenge you when needed, offer new perspectives, and help you practice skills you can use outside of session. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling heard, with something meaningful to reflect on or apply in your everyday life. I want to create a space where you can be honest without worrying about judgment or having all the answers. We'll work together to help you feel more confident navigating life's challenges and more like yourself again.
Ideal clients
I work best with adults who often feel like they're carrying a lot on their shoulders. On the outside, you may seem like you have it together, but internally you're dealing with constant overthinking, stress, self-doubt, or the pressure to keep everyone else happy. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, or major life transitions. They want to better understand themselves, break free from patterns that no longer serve them, and feel more confident setting boundaries, managing emotions, and showing up authentically in their relationships. You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If you're ready to better understand yourself, make lasting changes, and stop feeling stuck, we'd likely be a good fit.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. For example, we might look at how a stressful thought affects how you feel and respond, then practice ways to approach that situation differently.
Psychodynamic
Psychodynamic Therapy explores how past experiences and relationship patterns can shape current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through developing insight into these deeper patterns, we can work toward greater self-understanding and meaningful change.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you develop a different relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions, without letting them dictate your actions. We’ll focus on psychological flexibility, personal values, and taking meaningful action even when life feels difficult or uncertain.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy focuses on your strengths, existing resources, and the changes you want to make. We’ll explore what’s already working, identify small steps toward your goals, and build on progress as you move forward.
Attachment-based
Attachment-Based Therapy explores how early relationship experiences can shape the way you connect with others today. For example, we might explore what happens when you feel distant from or uncertain about someone you care about, and how those patterns affect the way you respond. Understanding these patterns can help you develop greater self-awareness and create more secure, fulfilling relationships.
