Hi I’m Kayla, a licensed professional counselor in Louisville, KY. I have been practicing for over 11 years in a variety of settings including both in-patient and outpatient offices. I utilize many techniques including CBT, ACT, and DBT skills. I am trained in art therapy as well and am happy to bring those techniques to sessions when clients are open to this. I work with adolescence and adults and offer a LGBTQ+ friendly space.
On your first session, you can expect a fair amount of information gathering to be completed. This will include personal information, treatment history, and family history. I will also explore the reasons you are seeking therapy and presenting problems you are experiencing. I also want to built rapport and get to know you as a person and not just a client in this session.
My approach stands out as it is personal centered meaning we will develop treatment goals together and develop a plan that’s individual to you. I also utilize evidence based interventions with known success to help you reach those goals.
My ideal client is someone that sees patterns of behaviors and emotions in their life that they are motivated to change. I work well with clients that don’t know how to make this change on their Owen and enjoy facilitating and teaching to help change to occur. I happily work with individuals dealing with difficult moments and life transitions. I enjoy giving space to hold those difficult emotions.

I utilize the 3C’s to help identify and change behavior and emotional patterns that clients are experiencing. I use many worksheets and aids to help assist in using logic to challenge and change emotional responses.
I have worked for many years helping families to grow as a whole. When one individual in a family unit is having difficulties, the whole family feels things. I work to make sure every family member is heard and understood.
Instead of following one set method, I utilize eclectic therapy to pull from a variety of therapeutic methods and use them simultaneously to develop a more unique and individual approach. Clients find this to be more personal.
