About me

Hello! I am a licensed clinical social worker and therapist with over 2 decades of master's level clinical experience working with individual adults. I completed grad school over 3 decades ago and have lots of lived experience as a therapist and human being. My priorities center around creating a safe and supportive environment where you can be yourself and openly explore your thoughts and feelings. I do not fill the role of expert but consider myself your companion along a challenging part of your life's journey. I am here to listen, support, and offer feedback, interpretations, and suggestions. We will strive towards shared goals and agreement on therapeutic direction and tasks. Ultimately, my clients will be empowered to experiment with small sustainable changes in their daily life that may move them closer to their goals and aspirations.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is focused on relationship building and gathering some preliminary information on your symptoms, daily challenges and goals for therapy. The therapy session will ideally become a "safe place" for you to be yourself without judgment or labeling. While a clinical diagnosis is necessary to establish medical necessity for therapy treatment, I prefer to curate a more affirming strength-based approach as much as possible.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My strengths are in individualizing support and treatment for each client's unique needs. We will work collaboratively on priorities that align with your values and goals. My generalist approach includes client-centered supportive therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and education on coping skills, mindfulness, breathwork, and relaxation. I am confident you will be resourced with tools and strategies after each of our sessions. You can also measure change and the recovery process by completing standardized screening questionnaires which are often required by insurance plans to cover ongoing therapy. I work part time usually daylight hours , Mon - Fri; and a few Saturday hours. I may have temporary availability other times including Sundays for my established clients . I look forward to connecting with you!

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My clients ideally will be active participants in the treatment process, be open to trying experiments between sessions, and be willing to invest in themselves through small but sustainable changes. My ideal clients are ready for lasting change and understand they need to drive or lead their recovery process and treatment. This includes doing the work and facing challenges between sessions. My ideal clients see their therapy sessions as non-negotiable time for self care and would not consider multi-tasking (like driving, working) or insufficient privacy or public wi-fi connection during sessions.

My treatment methods

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Clients open to managing stress and various mental health conditions by cultivating awareness of the present moment without judgment or reactivity would benefit from this therapeutic approach.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Clients motivated to challenge and change unhelpful thought and behavioral patterns and engage in experiments between sessions are well suited for a CBT approach.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

This approach is often ideal for clients seeking brief therapy related present day challenges with a few mild to moderate symptoms.

Eclectic

As a generalist practitioner, my approach is holistic and can include components of various modalities rather than a strict manualized or "by the book" style treatment.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

This method emphasizes strengthening the therapeutic relationship and fostering a safe space for self-expression. The client guides the discussion while the therapist acts as a supportive facilitator rather than an authority figure. It involves a focus on providing encouragement, guidance, and practical support to help clients cope with distress and manage life challenges.

I just had my first appointment. First impression was positive. She’s easy to open up to. Her profile led me to choose her.
