Michelle Logsdon
I haven't taken the traditional route to get here, but I am so thrilled to be doing the work I love. With a background in journalism and secondary education, I bring a unique, grounded perspective to therapy. As a licensed therapist with over five years of experience, I consider myself a lifelong learner. Being a mom and a former middle school teacher has given me a deep appreciation for the unique challenges faced by both adults and teenagers alike.
Watching clients grow into happier versions of themselves and celebrating their successes is the most rewarding part of my work.
My approach is far from one-size-fits-all. Instead, I strive to make our sessions feel like you're having a comfortable chat with a trusted friend—one who just happens to drop some valuable insight along the way. Watching clients grow into happier versions of themselves and celebrating their successes is the most rewarding part of my work. A quick note for telehealth clients: Pets are one of my favorite parts of working from home! You might occasionally hear or see my pets during our sessions, and your animals are always welcome to join in, too. (I am currently looking for office space in the Peoria, IL area)
First session
I feel that a positive and supportive client/therapist relationship is the most important part of a successful therapeutic experience. The first session is all about getting to know your story and what you want to achieve together. It's also about taking time to see if we are a good therapeutic match!
Strengths
I bring a deeply personalized, adaptable approach to every session—there are no rigid scripts here. Drawing from my background as a mom and a former educator, I excel at creating a relaxed, down-to-earth environment where both adults and teens feel genuinely seen and understood. My strength lies in blending deep empathy with practical, actionable insights, helping you untangle complex thoughts so you can leave each session feeling lighter, more grounded, and equipped with a clearer path forward.
Ideal clients
Whether you are exploring identity, healing from minority stress, navigating relationships, or simply seeking a therapist who “gets it” without explanation. As an Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist, I am especially passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals—particularly those diagnosed later in life or who suspect they may be neurodivergent. If you are open to learning more about yourself and the world we live in, we just may be a great fit.
Treatment methods
Attachment-based
As my client, I will take the time to get to know you as an individual, work to understand what or who has prevented you from reaching your goals in life so far, and listen while offering support as you strive to make the journey forward. I will provide you the tools needed to empower you to overcome the challenges in your life, both past and present. Together, we will work to understand why life has been so difficult so you can begin to move forward with healthier approaches and more positive interactions with others overall.
Gender-affirming therapy
I provide a sexuality and gender-affirming space for individuals who belong within the LGBTQIA+ community. I support and am familiar with transgender issues and am comfortable providing referral letters for gender affirming medical care, as needed. I want to work to understand you and your unique experience so you can live your best life.
