With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, I am passionate about supporting individuals and families as they navigate life’s challenges and pursue meaningful growth. My Christian faith shapes my personal values; however, I work with people from all backgrounds and beliefs. Faith-based perspectives are incorporated into counseling only if a client specifically desires it. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. Together, we can explore the challenges you are facing while working toward the emotional and personal goals that matter most to you. My professional background includes many years as a behavioral specialist in community mental health, working closely with children, youth, and their families. This experience allows me to effectively support adults diagnosed with ADHD or autism spectrum disorder, as well as parents who are raising and supporting children with these diagnoses. I also enjoy helping parents build stronger, healthier relationships with their children and teens. In addition, I have extensive experience working with couples and am a trained Prepare/Enrich facilitator. I support couples in navigating conflict, strengthening communication, and addressing a wide range of relationship concerns in a constructive and supportive way. When working with individuals, I primarily use a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach to help address challenges related to anxiety, depression, life transitions, and stress. My focus is on providing practical tools and strategies that help you move forward with clarity, confidence, and resilience.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session together, you can expect a welcoming and relaxed environment where the focus is on getting to know you and understanding your unique story. This initial meeting is considered an intake session, which gives us the opportunity to begin building a connection while gathering important information about what has brought you to counseling. I will ask questions about your current concerns, personal background, and any relevant emotional or mental health history. These questions help me better understand your experiences, the challenges you may be facing, and the areas where you would like support. There is no pressure to share everything at once—this is simply the beginning of the process, and we will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. We will also spend some time discussing your goals for therapy and what you hope to gain from our work together. This helps ensure that our time is focused in ways that are meaningful and helpful for you. My priority during this first session is to create a space where you feel comfortable, heard, and respected. Establishing trust and understanding is an important first step, and together we will begin laying the foundation for a counseling experience that is supportive, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Clients often describe me as warm, empathetic, and easy to talk to. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you feel comfortable sharing openly and exploring the challenges you may be facing. Building trust and helping you feel truly heard is an important part of the work we do together. I value honesty and clear, respectful communication. At times, this may mean gently challenging unhelpful patterns or perspectives, but it is always done with care, compassion, and your growth in mind. My goal is to support you while also helping you gain new insights that can lead to meaningful and lasting change. My approach to therapy is collaborative. I believe the counseling process works best when we work together—combining your experiences, strengths, and insights with my professional knowledge and guidance. What many clients find unique about my approach is the balance between compassion and practicality. Along with being a supportive listener, I aim to provide helpful tools, strategies, and perspectives that empower you to move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and confidence.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal client is an individual adult or couple who is motivated for growth and ready to actively engage in the counseling process. I work best with clients who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress, relationship concerns, or who are seeking support related to ADHD or autism spectrum disorder—either personally or as a parent. These clients value a collaborative approach, are open to practical tools such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and are looking for a balance of empathy, honest feedback, and actionable strategies to create meaningful change.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In counseling, I draw from a variety of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Increasing awareness of these patterns is often an important first step toward creating meaningful and lasting change. Together, we work to identify unhelpful or negative automatic thoughts and gently challenge them through cognitive restructuring. I may also use tools such as thought records to help clients recognize common thinking patterns and evaluate whether those thoughts are accurate, balanced, and helpful. To support changes in behavior, I often incorporate behavioral activation. This may involve collaboratively developing activity plans that encourage engagement in meaningful, positive experiences that can improve mood and overall well-being. When working with anxiety or avoidance patterns, I may also introduce gradual exposure techniques to help clients face fears in a supportive and manageable way. In addition, I integrate problem-solving strategies, coping skills, and relaxation techniques to help clients manage stress and navigate challenges more effectively. My goal is to equip clients with practical tools they can continue to use in their daily lives, empowering them to build confidence, resilience, and healthier patterns over time.
