(he/him)
I am a psychotherapist with over 17 years of clinical experience. I utilize a relational, person-centered, strengths-based approach, in addition to incorporating mindfulness-based therapeutic techniques. I'm also trained in providing ecotherapy for clients interested in having sessions outdoors, and accessing nature as a part of the therapeutic process. I also incorporate therapeutic journaling and encourage every client to keep a journal during their time in therapy (and beyond).
The first session can look vastly different depending on each client's comfortability and familiarity with being in therapy. Some clients wish to dive right in with with discussing the challenges they're facing in life, exploring past traumas etc. Other clients may come to therapy feeling guarded and/or nervous about starting with a new provider. I am able to meet clients where they are at, and am adept at tailoring my therapeutic approach based on your comfort level.
I really take in the life experiences my clients explore in their sessions with me, and my recall is generally very good, so I am able to assist my clients in drawing connections, noticing patterns, and gaining deeper insight into themselves.
As a queer, cis, Black/biracial man, I'm particularly passionate about offering an affirming therapeutic space to BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA-identified individuals. I also enjoy working with parents at any stage of their parenting journey (including intended parents).

Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I've worked with many clients who may have been familiar with mindfulness as a concept, but were unclear about exactly how mindfulness techniques connects to improved mental health. So in our sessions I guide clients through mindfulness exercises, and provide education about how these techniques can be used to cope with negative thought-patterns, negative core beliefs, and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
