Diana Robinson
Hi, I’m Diana Robinson, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 10 years of experience working with adults navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, relationships, identity, and major life transitions. You’re capable, driven, and probably pretty good at holding things together. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you feel okay underneath it all. Maybe your mind doesn’t slow down, your emotions feel bigger than other people realize, or you’ve spent years adjusting yourself to fit into environments that didn’t always fit you.
Additionally, as a queer-identifying person, I create a safe space for those that identify with the LGBTQIA2S+ and Gender, Sexuality, and Relationship Diverse community.
I especially enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent adults. As a queer-identified and neurodivergent therapist myself, I understand that being different from the expected norm can shape how you experience yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. I also know that anxiety, burnout, and emotional overwhelm don’t always exist in isolation. Sometimes they’re connected to years of masking, overthinking, over-functioning, difficult relationships, or trying to navigate environments that don’t account for how your brain or nervous system works. My approach is warm, direct, collaborative, and practical. I use CBT and DBT-informed skills along with somatic, mindfulness-based, and trauma-informed approaches. I’ll listen and validate you, but I won’t simply nod along. I’ll ask questions, offer honest reflection, and gently challenge you when I think it can help. My goal is to help you understand yourself more deeply and develop tools you can actually use outside of therapy. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you start. We can start where you are.
First session
Client's will receive a welcoming ear to meet them where they are. During the first session as I gather information, I offer the client to to express their struggles and goals in either their own authentic way or I can can start with prompted questions. I understand that most people are either joining therapy for the first time or are returning and do not know where or how to start. I've got you!
Strengths
What makes my approach different is that I don’t believe therapy is just about changing your thoughts or managing symptoms. I want to understand the whole picture—your thoughts, emotions, body, nervous system, relationships, identity, and the experiences that shaped how you learned to cope. I combine CBT and DBT-informed skills with somatic, mindfulness-based, and trauma-informed approaches, while keeping neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ affirming care at the center of my work. I’m interested in what’s happening beneath the surface, not just what you’re struggling with today. I’m also not a therapist who simply nods and tells you everything is okay. I’ll validate your experience while offering honest reflection, asking thoughtful questions, and gently challenging patterns when it can help you grow. At the same time, I won’t ask you to become less sensitive, less emotional, less neurodivergent, or more “palatable” to make life easier for everyone else. My goal is to help you understand why you do what you do, recognize what your nervous system may be communicating, and build the capacity to respond differently. I want you to leave therapy not just feeling supported, but feeling more capable of understanding yourself and navigating your life.
Ideal clients
I would like to be matched with clients who are struggling with: Anxiety, depression, trauma, LGBTQ+ Identity issues, and early childhood relational wounding.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In my practice, I integrate evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify patterns — like irrational beliefs or mental traps — that contribute to anxiety, stress, or feeling stuck in different areas of life. From there, we work to rewire those patterns in a way that supports emotional regulation, self-compassion, and living more authentically in relationships, work, and daily life.
