Hi, I’m John, a licensed therapist who helps people move from feeling overwhelmed and reactive to feeling more steady, confident, and in control. I specialize in anxiety, emotional regulation, trauma, and relationship stress, using practical, evidence-based approaches like DBT, CBT, and parts work. My goal is to provide a space that feels both supportive and genuinely useful for your day-to-day life.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session is primarily about getting to know you and understanding what’s been weighing on you. We’ll complete a comprehensive assessment that looks at your current challenges, relevant history, coping patterns, and what you would most like to see change in your life. I work to keep this process collaborative and comfortable, and you are always in control of how much you share. Most clients leave the first session with a clearer sense of direction and next steps.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

With a decade of experience as a licensed clinician, I offer therapy that is practical, structured, and supportive. My goal is to help you develop real-world skills for emotional regulation, stress management, and building healthier relationships. This can help you feel steadier, more confident, and in control of your life. Remember, you're not alone in what you’re feeling, and you don’t need to figure everything out on your own. Starting therapy might feel a little daunting, especially if you’re used to handling things independently. But you don’t have to have all the answers before reaching out. If you’re looking for a warm, clear, and compassionate therapist who wants to help you feel more grounded and understood, I’d love to hear from you.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have comprehensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), including intensive training with the treatment’s founder, Marsha Linehan. I have continued to deepen my expertise through advanced coursework with nationally recognized DBT trainers and earned my DBT certification in 2024. In my clinical work, I regularly integrate core DBT skills such as emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness to help clients build practical tools for managing intense emotions, reducing impulsive behaviors, and improving relationship stability. My approach emphasizes both acceptance and meaningful change, providing structured, skills-based support that clients can apply in their daily lives.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I have specialized training in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapies, including training with leading experts such as David Tolin, Debra Kaysen, and Barbara Rothbaum. My background includes formal training in Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), which I use to help clients safely process traumatic experiences and reduce trauma-related symptoms such as avoidance, hyperarousal, and intrusive memories. I have extensive experience working with individuals with complex trauma histories and approach this work with a strong emphasis on pacing, emotional safety, and skills-based stabilization. My goal is to help clients move from surviving to more fully re-engaging in their lives with greater confidence and resilience.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I have completed intensive and immersive training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) with the model’s developer, Dr. Richard Schwartz, as well as advanced training with Frank Anderson, MD. My training covered a broad range of applications of IFS and parts work across diverse clinical presentations. In practice, I use IFS to help clients develop greater awareness of their internal system, reduce inner conflict, and build a more compassionate relationship with protective and vulnerable parts. This approach supports deeper emotional healing while helping clients feel more internally aligned, grounded, and self-led in their daily lives.
