About me

I’m Tanyaka B. Cline, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges with compassion and practical support. With a strong background in mental health and counseling, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can heal, grow, and build resilience. My approach is collaborative and strengths-based, focusing on empowering you to reach your goals and embrace positive change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we will focus on getting to know each other and creating a safe, supportive space for you to share what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask questions about your history, current challenges, and goals so that I can better understand your unique needs. Together, we will begin developing a personalized plan for your care. My priority is to help you feel comfortable, heard, and respected while we lay the foundation for meaningful progress.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths as a therapist are creating a safe and supportive environment, tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs, and combining evidence-based practices with genuine compassion. I draw from approaches such as CBT, DBT, and strength-based therapy to help clients build coping skills, manage stress, and achieve lasting change. Clients often share that they feel understood, empowered, and encouraged to embrace growth because of my ability to balance professionalism with warmth and authenticity.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are individuals and families who are ready to make positive changes in their lives, even if they aren’t sure where to begin. I work well with those navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, or major life transitions, as well as clients seeking healthier relationships and improved communication. I am especially positioned to help people who are motivated to grow, open to learning new coping skills, and committed to creating balance and resilience in their daily lives.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My experience with CBT involves helping clients identify negative thought patterns and challenge them with healthier, more balanced perspectives. I use CBT in practice to teach clients how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected, and to guide them in developing coping skills that support long-term change.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have utilized DBT strategies to help clients regulate emotions, reduce impulsive behaviors, and strengthen interpersonal effectiveness. In practice, I incorporate mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills depending on the client’s unique needs.

Motivational Interviewing

I have applied MI techniques to enhance clients’ readiness for change by exploring and resolving ambivalence. In my practice, I use MI to foster collaboration, respect autonomy, and encourage clients to identify their own reasons and motivations for growth.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I use mindfulness-based practices to help clients develop present-moment awareness, reduce stress, and enhance emotional regulation. In practice, I teach grounding and breathing techniques that clients can integrate into daily life to manage distress more effectively.

Grief Therapy

My experience with grief counseling includes helping clients process losses and adapt to life transitions. In practice, I provide a supportive space where clients can express their emotions, explore meaning, and develop coping strategies for their grief journey.
