I am from Indiana and currently live in "bush" Alaska. I have spent most of my life in the medical field and have been doing therapy for about 8 years. I enjoy reading, being outdoors, and spending time with the ones I love. I have experience working with all ages, demographics and diagnosis. I feel very privileged to provide a caring, compassionate and a judgement free space for my clients. I am able to provide Christian based therapy as well, both biblical and Eastern Orthodox Christian.
First session
A first session with me would include a warm and welcoming environment, a judgement free space and the start of a healing journey for my clients. Additionally, my intent is to provide an accurate diagnosis/evaluation in order to provide the best services and treatment plan.
Strengths
I tailor my services to the needs of my clients. As a therapist, I believe my strengths are openness, the ability to connect with my clients, timeliness and an honest and straight forward approach to care. Additionally, my experience as a veteran and 20+ years of experience in the medical field.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with clients that are open, honest and ready to make real change. I will work diligently to provide the best therapeutic services for ALL of my clients and understand that each individual has unique needs. My areas of strength include trauma care, past abuse/neglect, PTSD, veterans , couples therapy, depression/anxiety and Christian based therapy. I additionally enjoy working with elder clients and women's issues.
Treatment methods
Christian Counseling
I am trained in biblical/Christian counseling and have utilized this treatment modality for 8 years. I can also provide therapy services to Orthodox Christian clients that would like implementation of the faith, church fathers and church teachings.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is a primary treatment that I utilize during session to promote lasting change.
Couples Counseling
I have training in couples therapy and Gottman level 1 training. I have 8 years experience with couples and enjoy building relationships and assisting with communication and reconnection.
Existential
Existential therapy is a modality that I utilize frequently, as this can be the cause of many mental health issues- always remembering what you believe and what your purpose is can be a huge asset in healing
Trauma Informed Care
I have extensive experience with trauma work as well as first responders and veterans.
