My name is Alex Rentel. I have been a counselor since 2019, but been in the mental health field in other roles since 2017. I have worked with many humans from many different backgrounds with an array of different struggles. I enjoy listening to stories whether it be from another human or my audiobook. I teach yoga and enjoy being outside when the weather is nice. I am a mother and a wife and believe that my life experiences help make me the therapist that I am.
You will receive a rundown of information about confidentiality and its limits, policies that are important within the practice and therapeutic relationship, discuss and assessments that were completed before the first session, etc. Then you will be actively listened to as you share what has brought you into therapy and begin building a relationship with the therapist.
I bring my self in the therapy room because I believe to help provide a safe space for someone else to bring their full self in the room, a real life human is what is best to do so.
I feel best prepared to help those who are either needing to unload their burdens on someone as a witness or those who are able to identify goals that they have and willing to try on new perspectives or methods for reaching those said goals.

I was trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing in March of 2024. This treatment approach helps us process traumatic experiences as well as manage anxiety and depression symptoms using bilateral stimulation in the therapeutic environment.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
This treatment method allows us to take a look at different parts of ourselves. When doing this process, we identify how these parts are functioning, acknowledge that we have been doing the best we could all while learning to let them know we are prepared to try different ways of managing life.
