Hello there I’m Johnny, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Miami, Florida. Outside of my work, I’m someone who loves to explore new places, try different foods, and spend time outdoors. Traveling gives me perspective and reminds me how much there is to learn from different people and cultures. I also enjoy cooking, scuba diving, and finding quiet moments near the ocean whenever I can. I’ve always had a curious side—I’m fascinated by astronomy and love collecting action figures, which is something that’s stuck with me since childhood. Those small interests keep me grounded and remind me to make space for the things that bring joy. Family is important to me, I value humor, honesty, and connection, both in my personal life and in the relationships I build every day. I believe that who we are outside of our work matters just as much as what we do, and I try to live in a way that reflects that balance.
Our first session the focus is on getting to know each other and building a sense of comfort and trust. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you hope to get out of it, and what goals or changes you’d like to work toward. I’ll also take time to understand your current challenges, triggers, and the strengths you already have that can support your progress. It's really about creating a space where you can share openly and start to see if we’re a good fit to work together. From there, we’ll begin to shape a plan that fits your needs and moves at a pace that feels right for you.
My greatest strengths would be my listening skills, being on time, and reliability.
I tend to work best with adolescents and adults who are motivated for change but feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward. Many of my clients experience anxiety, depression, overthinking, emotional dysregulation, and challenges in relationships or life transitions. I support individuals who are open to self-reflection and looking to better understand their thoughts, behaviors, and emotional patterns.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has been central to my clinical practice. I use CBT to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and build greater self-awareness. Over time, this approach has allowed clients to feel more determined, self-regulated, and empowered to make lasting change. I also find that CBT provides structure and measurable progress, which helps clients stay engaged and confident in their therapeutic journey.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
ACT can help you pinpoint what really matters to you in life (relationships, work, health, etc.) so your actions align with your priorities, not just your moods. We can set practical goals based on your values and take meaningful steps toward them, even when it’s uncomfortable.
Reality Therapy
What it’s especially useful for clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or powerless. Anger/impulse control, anxiety with avoidance, relationship conflict, motivation/behavior change. Also helps you strengthen boundaries and improving follow-through.

I chose Johnny personally because he knows what its like to be on the other side. He's very, understandable, and relatable. Too many Healthcare professionals forget to just be "human", and listen. I 100% would recommend Johnny for any mental health issues you may be facing.

John Carrascal is a great therapist who shows a lot of care to his patients. He is authentic, solution oriented, intelligent, and kind. He is good at explaining topics and empathizing with the client. He has been my therapist for over a year and I have only good things to say.
