Ahmad Sedaghat
Taking the first step toward counseling can feel challenging, but it can also be the beginning of meaningful change, personal growth, and a healthier, more fulfilling life. With over 20 years of experience working with individuals across the lifespan—from adolescents in residential settings to older adults in hospital settings—I believe every person has strengths, abilities, and the potential to move forward, even during life's most difficult moments.
Whether you are navigating personal challenges, strengthening your relationship, working through family conflicts, or looking for guidance as a parent, you don't have to face these challenges alone.
I welcome the opportunity to work with individuals, couples, and families who are seeking support, understanding, and positive change. Whether you are navigating personal challenges, strengthening your relationship, working through family conflicts, or looking for guidance as a parent, you don't have to face these challenges alone. Together, we can explore new perspectives, improve communication, and find healthier ways to move forward. My approach to counseling is solution-focused, supportive, and collaborative. You are the expert in your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, help you recognize your strengths, explore possibilities, and develop practical tools to overcome challenges and work toward the life and relationships you want. You deserve the opportunity to feel better, find balance, build resilience, and enjoy a more fulfilling life. You don't have to have all the answers before reaching out, and you don't have to navigate every challenge alone. Whether you're facing a difficult season, looking for a fresh perspective, or ready to make positive changes in your life or relationships, I welcome you to take that first step. Together, we can focus on your goals, build on your strengths, and move toward a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling future.
First session
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what has brought you to therapy. I aim to create a calm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable sharing your concerns, experiences, and what you hope to achieve. During this initial intake session, we will explore your personal history, family and relationships, medical history, substance use, medications, and any strategies or approaches you have tried in the past. This helps me better understand your circumstances, current challenges, and individual needs. Most importantly, I want you to feel heard, respected, and understood. Together, we will begin identifying your goals and discussing how we can work toward meaningful changes that support your well-being and help you move toward a happier, more fulfilling life.
Strengths
I bring a calm, respectful, and supportive presence to every session. I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where you feel heard, understood, and comfortable expressing yourself openly, without fear of judgment. I approach each person with an open mind, curiosity, patience, and compassion, recognizing that everyone has their own experiences, perspectives, and challenges. I believe in meeting people where they are, without bias or judgment, and taking the time to understand what matters most to them. My goal is to work alongside you with understanding and encouragement, helping you recognize your strengths, explore new perspectives, and discover solutions that feel right for you. Above all, I want you to feel respected, supported, and empowered as we work together toward positive change and a happier, more fulfilling life.
Ideal clients
I don't believe there is one specific type of ideal client. Every person has their own unique experiences, challenges, strengths, and goals, and I welcome the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life. Whether you're navigating a difficult time, working through relationship challenges, feeling stuck, or simply wanting to understand yourself better, I strive to meet you where you are with compassion, respect, and an open mind. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable exploring your concerns, discovering your strengths, and finding solutions that work for you. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to grow, find happiness, and create a more fulfilling life. If you're ready to explore new possibilities and work toward positive change, I'm here to support you.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles to help clients recognize and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, explore different perspectives, and understand how their thoughts influence their feelings and behaviors. Together, we work on developing healthier mindsets and practical strategies to manage everyday challenges and create positive change.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
I incorporate Solution-Focused Therapy principles, believing that you are the expert in your own life. My role is to help you recognize your strengths, identify what is already working, and explore practical solutions to the challenges you face. Together, we focus on your goals, possibilities, and small, meaningful steps toward positive change and a more fulfilling life.
