About me

I believe psychotherapy is a tool to understand oneself and grow as an individual, It can also be used to form a relationship where safety allows a person to share their innermost thoughts and feelings and then work towards symptom alleviation and improving self-concept, social and family relationships, and find personal contentment and fulfillment in their lives. I have been in the psychotherapy field for over 45 years and love working with people of all ages, sexual preferences, racial and ethnic groups, and mental health problems presented. My approach is kind, compassionate, and considerate of people's wishes, needs, and preferences.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is an opportunity to get to know you and understand what to expect. I provide a safe and encouraging environment where clients can begin to share who they are and what their concerns may be. We then identify major issues, goals, and a treatment plan to address them. In psychological tests are done ahead of time these may be discussed. Client questions or obstacles to treatment may also be discussed,

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have worked a long time in psychology and mental health and thus have gone through many developmental phases myself. My personal journey has led me to understand and empathize with many kinds of problems we as people go through. I have also received much education and supervision along the way which enables me to remain objective and bring to bear a range of theory and technique applicable to most people seeking help.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working most with clients who are interested in addressing conflicts and sources of concern involving themselves and others either at work, home, and in social relationships. I am an expert with children and families and love focusing on how people relate to one another and cope with stress, daily responsibiites, and other people. My specialties have involved intense marital and family conflict, child custody, and even disability. Adult and adolescent depression and anxiety are the lifeblood of my practive.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT helps to address emotional discomfort by focusing on changing thoughts which in turn helps increase positive feelings and reduce symptoms.

Couples Counseling

Couples when seen together can focus on distress and dysfunction in their relationship. Once common issues are identified, couples can learn skills to better resolve these problems and build greater understanding, communication, and fulfillment.

Family Therapy

When families are in distress, focusing on the family dynamics and the sources of dysfunction. Once understood, families can learn to communicate more effectively, resolve differences, and nurture connections and family functioning in general.

Psychodynamic

Understanding the current problems is often understood by realizing how past relationships affect current personality and functioning. This link may help the person find more functional ways of coping as separation from previous beliefs and behaviors occurs and better adaptation is achieved.
