(she/her)
I am a clinical social worker with more than 20 years of experience and practicing out of Georgia while being licensed in Georgia and South Carolina. My goal is to support individuals in learning healthy coping skills that they can utilize in their current situations as well as in the future. I practice from a perspective that learning more about yourself and how your nervous system responds, brings about empowerment in coping with life events.
The first session with me is truly a time to begin the process of getting to know each other. I believe the therapist and client relationship is like any other relationship and takes time to foster. I spend time in the first session getting to know my client across a variety of areas of their life and working to better understand their goals for treatment.
I believe that my strengths as a provider are that I focus on coping skills that are applicable to the individual's lifestyle and resources. In addition, I believe in helping my clients to learn how their nervous system works in terms that are easy to understand so that they do not feel hijacked by their own systems.
I enjoy working with clients who are working to navigate life's stressors and are struggling in some areas. From early adulting, dating, coming into their own identity to new parents and empty nesters the life transitions each bring new joys and challenges and I enjoy supporting my clients in navigating these paths. Anxiety is an emotional response to an unknown. I support my clients in how understanding this concept and recognizing the symptoms in their body can lead to a sense of empowerment. Often clients come to me feeling hijacked by their emotions. I provide support and understanding through interventions based on research in CBT, DBT and Polyvagal Theory to improve anxiety symptoms.

I had my first virtual therapy session ever with Sarah Harris. She was great at walking me through the technical process, what can make a good match for a therapist and made me feel very comfortable. I appreciated her listening/taking in my background. She really put thought into her insights on me and what she thought would be good for us to focus on to help me grow.

My first therapy appt and I was absolutely shocked at how seen I felt when speaking to her. She was able to see exactly what I needed within the hour I had. I am so excited to continue on this journey with her.
