I am a dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker ( LCSW) in Florida obtaining my Masters in Social Worker in 1997. I have a deep passion for working with people and pride myself as a down to earth therapist who brings empathy, a willingness to always learn about what makes your situation unique, and I never use a one size fits all approach. In our work together, my goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore your feelings, identify patterns that may be holding you back, and develop practical strategies for moving forward. I specialize in working with adults struggling with pre and post divorce challenges, blending step-families, single parents, co-dependency, self esteem, reinventing yourself throughout your life-span; including developing a new career, relocating, life transitions.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to feel a mix of emotions whether that’s nervousness, uncertainty, or even a sense of relief. In your first session with me, the focus is on getting to know you. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. There’s no pressure to share everything all at once you can go at your own pace, and we’ll move in a way that feels comfortable for you. I’ll also ask some questions to better understand your background, your current challenges, and any patterns or stressors that may be impacting you. This helps me get a clearer picture of how to best support you. Together, we’ll begin to identify your goals, whether that’s reducing anxiety, improving relationships, navigating a life transition, or simply feeling more like yourself again. I’ll explain how I work using a client-centered and solution-focused approach, so you’ll know what to expect moving forward. Most importantly, the first session is about creating a space where you feel safe, heard, and understood. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you come in just showing up is enough. By the end of the session, you should have a clearer sense of how we can work together and whether it feels like the right fit for you.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My path to becoming a therapist started over 25 years ago when I founded a messenger business in New York City. I was quickly exposed to the inequalities, diversity and challenges people face daily. This experience opened my eyes to the profound depths of the human condition and fueled my passion for helping others. I witnessed firsthand the struggles of individuals from all walks of life, from those dealing with broken families, to the devastating result of addiction, to the barriers of reentry after incarceration. Motivated by these experiences, I pursued my Masters in Social Work, determined to make a difference on a deeper level. Over the years, I have worked in a variety of settings, including hospitals, mental health clinics, nursing homes, and eventually private practice where I cultivated all my life experiences both personally and professionally. What I feel makes me an effective therapist are the collective life experiences that have shaped me who I am today. I know firsthand the struggles that life can present and having faced divorce, single parenting, etc. These experiences have taught me that there is light at the end of the road that lead us here, and our struggles dont define us. It is through both my personal and professional experiences, which has allowed me to connect with clients on a meaningful level and guide them towards positive change.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or weighed down by depression, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to navigate it by yourself. You may be going through a life transition, struggling in your relationships, or feeling disconnected from the life you once had or hoped for. On the outside, things may look manageable, but internally you might feel exhausted, uncertain, or like you’ve lost your sense of direction. You might be noticing patterns in your relationships, communication struggles, emotional distance, or difficulty feeling understood and supported. Or perhaps you’re carrying the weight of deeper experiences, like loss, estrangement, or unresolved conflict, that continue to impact how you feel and show up in your life. Even with all of this, there is a part of you that knows something can change. You may not have all the answers yet, but you’re open to understanding yourself more deeply and creating healthier patterns moving forward. In our work together, we will focus on helping you feel more grounded, gain clarity, and move out of the patterns that are keeping you stuck. Your goals may include improving relationships, managing anxiety and depression, navigating life transitions with more confidence, setting healthier boundaries, and reconnecting with a stronger sense of self. My approach is client-centered and solution-focused. I meet you where you are with compassion and without judgment while helping you move forward in practical, meaningful ways. You don’t have to stay stuck. You’re allowed to want more—and you’re allowed to get there.

Strength-Based
I believe in the power of a strength-based approach to help my clients overcome life's challenges. Everyone has unique strengths and inner resources that can be nurtured to navigate difficulties and foster personal growth. My role is to help you identify and build upon these strengths, enabling you to face challenges with confidence and resilience. In our work together, I focus on empowering you to recognize your abilities and potential. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues or any major life transition, I will help you tap into your inner resources and develop strategies that align with your values and goals. If you are ready to start your journey towards healing, I encourage you to reach out.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use a client-centered and solution-focused approach, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. Together, we’ll identify unhelpful patterns, challenge negative thinking, and develop more effective ways of responding to stress, anxiety, and relationship challenges. Our work may also include building practical skills such as emotional regulation, communication, and boundary-setting, while incorporating mindfulness and grounding techniques to help you feel more present and in control. I focus on your strengths and support you in making meaningful, realistic changes that improve your day-to-day life.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
Person-Centered Therapy is an important part of how I work, creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can openly explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I believe you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to help you better understand yourself while feeling fully heard and respected. At the same time, I am not a passive therapist. I actively engage in our sessions by offering feedback, insights, and observations to help you see patterns more clearly and move forward. I will gently challenge you when needed, ask meaningful questions, and guide you toward greater self-awareness and change. Our work is collaborative, we focus on what matters most to you while also identifying practical ways to help you feel less stuck. This approach allows you to gain insight, build confidence, and begin making choices that align with the life you want. You can expect both compassion and direction, so you feel supported while also making real, meaningful progress.

Wendy was so great to talk to. She was so warm and solution oriented, allowing me to think about things and be "mindful". Really enjoyed and can't wait for the next session.

What I love about Wendy is her down to earth and non judgmental way of approaching big emotions and intense, traumatic experiences. I come out of my sessions feeling empowered and ready to take on my positive feelings and actions through my day. Thank you Wendy!!
