Hello! I have been working with children with severe emotional disturbances and families for over twenty years. What has always amazed me was seeing how resilient people are! I truly enjoy my work helping people reach their goals and seeing life become a little bit easier!

I have been working with children with severe emotional disturbances and families for over twenty years.

I have experience working with family conflict, parenting, depression, difficult adoptions, relationship issues, school issues and intergenerational trauma.

First session

The first session will be an introductory session. During this time, you will have the opportunity to tell me your story, and what you would like to get out of therapy. I understand that it takes great courage to reach out for help and to be vulnerable. I will be here with you to listen, support, and encourage you.

Strengths

While there are so many therapeutic modalities, I believe in using a positive, strength-based, and solution focused approach. My goal is for you to have a clear understanding of treatment and actually see improvement as we work together.

Ideal clients

My previous work has been with children up to the age of 21, and their parents. I most enjoy working with teenagers and adults. My approach is very much solution focused. Together, we will put together a plan to make life a little bit easier.

Treatment methods

Strength-Based

Working with children and families that have been labeled with so many problems, I realized not only is it important to identify what their strengths are, but to incorporate them into the treatment plan.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize the elements of CBT to help my clients understand how negative thought and behaviors lead to emotional stress. I help my clients find other ways of looking at things and learning healthy coping skills .

I just want to say, I am very pleased with this appointment. Granted, I was talking the whole time (and I take the blame for that because i'm a talker). But Sue also did ask questions and did answer my questions and concerns I had with clear and open responses. We could've talked for hours if we had the chance. And I can't wait for our next appointment. Thank you Sue.
