In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Before you come to me, you should know that counseling does not work unless you do. I don't do the work, I just help guide you through it. Therapy is not the solution. You are! Things will always happen. It's all about how you choose to REACT vs respond to it! Practice makes... progress, right? Let's practice learning to be responsive! Here, the focus is you! Let's learn you so we can figure out what it is you should practice! And, let talk about ... boundaries! I give HOMEWORK!
The treatment methods and tools I utilize
I have a very eclectic and nontraditional approach. I have a cognitive behavioral approach and my homework tends to be a little more on the play/existential side! :-)
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Play therapy is one of my go tos! It's great for anxiety and trauma as well as depression. Finding ways to release tends to involve exploring a client's personal interests, which can be really fun. Finding effective releases can be the key to living a more balanced life. I use video resources and I am a huge fan of meditation!

I've seen a few therapists in my life. NONE have met me where I am & made me feel like a whole person. Finding Denisha was like finding the most comfortable chair, warm & inviting. She wants to engage & talk through things, so you know you matter. She allows me to be open & vulnerable, but makes sure that I feel protected & safe. She brings out the comedy when it's needed & the comfort when it's right. There aren't enough good things that I could say about her, just know, I'm SO grateful.
