New to Grow
Hello! My name is Katherine, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I am also a woman in my 40's and Filipino American. As a therapist I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion, cultural sensitivity, and empowerment. As a Filipino American, I bring an awareness of cultural identity, intergenerational dynamics, and the complexities of balancing community and self. I strive to create a safe, inclusive, and collaborative space where healing and growth can flourish. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, exploring local food spots, and going on adventures. I believe that therapy is a journey, and I’m honored to walk alongside those seeking change and self-discovery.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The initial session focuses on assessment and goal-setting. We’ll review your reasons for seeking therapy, relevant personal history, and current symptoms or concerns. This helps me develop an informed understanding of your needs and determine appropriate treatment approaches. We’ll also discuss confidentiality, therapy structure, and goals for future sessions. Collaboration and informed consent are central to the process.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My style is humorous, conversational, supportive and rooted in empathy meeting clients where they are and helping them move toward the life they want to live. I pride myself in authenticity with the understanding that my approach may not be the best fit for everyone and that is totally OK. I also encourage everyone to not be afraid to find the therapist they best fit with because just like any connection the vibes have to be right.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
With years of experience supporting individuals and families, I specialize in areas such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship concerns, family conflict, self esteem, identity development, career counseling, and life transitions. My approach integrates evidence-based techniques with a deep respect for each client’s unique background, values, and life story.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I use Person-Centered Therapy to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and supported. This client-led approach emphasizes empathy, authenticity, and respect, empowering individuals to explore their experiences, build self-awareness, and create meaningful change.
