(he/him)
I have been in the helping professions since 2005 and as a licensed therapist for 16 years. I’ve worked with a variety of clients of different cultures throughout. Early in my training, there was a heavy emphasis on the Western approach to address symptomology, but now as my career and experience have grown, I blend Western approach with Eastern influence, emphasizing the link between the mind and the body, and how trauma lives within the body, not just in our minds.
The first session will always include discussion about presenting issues at the forefront of the person’s life, while covering tasks such as informed consent and the limits of confidentiality. An in-depth assessment to gather historical information will take place in our first session to understand and build a foundation for the work going forward. We will also work as a team on your treatment goals and lay out the treatment course.
I think my background is a strength because I balance my Western background I’ve lived and received training with elements of Eastern influence, such as mind, body connection, movement, and mindfulness. We may spend the session utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, or other Western approaches; however, we may spend the last part on somatic work, such as body scan, or grounding to slow down the central nervous system after discussing difficult subjects in session. The benefit is these tools in session can be used later on in one’s life when dealing with triggered or upsetting thoughts and situations.
I’ve worked with many different clients as diverse as a rainbow, but my hope is our work together will inspire curiosity and bring up questions to oneself. Questions such as why one thinks in one way in response to a difficult situation, or what feelings come up when you experience hurt. And through the process of curiosity, an internal transformation can take place.

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past 12 years. It’s helped dozens of clients challenge recurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact with one another. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a more relaxed and less stressful life.
