Jeannine Ciliotta
Hi. I am an experienced Masters Level social worker who returned to train for my LCSW in my late 40's early 50's. Prior to that, I was a 35 year veteran of hospital based, social work and crisis intervention. This combined experience, forged a professional style based upon helping people cope with unspeakable suffering, loss and drastic life changes.
I have 30 years experience in the helping profession and 7 years as a therapist.
This has helped shape how I approach psychotherapy in that I have seen time and time again that no pain is too great to be lessened and that there is always a solution, even small, that can help transform a life into something better. I believe that therapy works best when there is a working combination of insight and action and much of my work will involve helping you identify a next right step in addressing the challenges you face.
First session
Clients should expect a casual atmosphere and a conversational setting. We are just trying to get to know one another and how I can be of assistance. Together, we will work on framing the problem and possible steps forward.
Strengths
I am able to combine insight, humor and empathy in order to encourage self exploration and personal growth/ change.
Ideal clients
I tend to work best with Clients who are seeking a combination of insight and action. I am familiar with the impact of addiction, personality disorders etc. on a family/ marriage and able to help a non-using partner to either cope with or leave the relationship, based upon their own value system and resources. Clients who tend to remain with me are often able to self-reflect and have a high motivation to do something different.
Treatment methods
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
I believe there are three steps to making personal change: awareness, acceptance and action. The hardest part is acceptance but it creates a good foundation for wiser choices.
Christian Counseling
I am a practicing Christian and can integrate biblical teachings in my approach if desired.
