Greetings! I am Irene Ona, a first generation Fil-Am Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). My work has been primarily in geriatrics. My niche is older adults at all stages of aging from independence to dependence, family caregiver and risk of burn out, and navigating the healthcare system. My experience comes from volunteering at senior centers, internships as a in-home counselor for my bachelor of social work (BSW) and an outpatient behavioral health clinic counselor for my masters of social work (MSW) specializing in mental health. I used my degrees to serve people in skilled nursing facilities (SNF) and hospice. Aside from my experience in healthcare, my passion is connect to clients who want to live more genuinely and be authentic in their everyday exchanges.
Our first session will be brief introductions, reviewing intake forms, and identifying areas of concern. We will work together to prioritize goals to guide future sessions.
I lean into client's presenting strengths and explore areas for opportunity. Sometimes there might be homework. Towards the end of session, I'll summarize the visit and discuss next session date. Frequency of telehealth sessions vary between. Goals can be modified at any time and will be reviewed at minimum every 3 months.
My dream client is someone who seeks personal growth. My clients deal with depression or anxiety or a difficulty taking the first step or stop negative self talk. My clients are independently trying to boost their confidence and/or self worth or develop a sense of self apart from the socialized norms of mainstream society. I help others build their confidence by being true to themselves. Furthermore, clients will develop a better understanding themselves within their environments and systems . Therein by, a client achieving strong mental attitude and foundation. Another dream client is someone is aging and isolated older adult, family caregiver, and/or family system. I know aging from independence through dependence to death. I am savvy and resourceful for increasing needs at home. I can also navigate difficult situations and conversations with a client and family, as needed.

Clients can often identify ruminating thoughts and/or life stressors. When a client practices mindfulness with their thoughts, change can happen. I've observed improved mood and self esteem, utilization of support systems, and action towards change.
Strength-Based
I'm naturally drawn to see others strengths. Let's tap into your strengths, skills, and resources to reach your goals. In times of stress, it's easy to forget those things. We'll be reflective, exploratory, and work for meaningful change.

When I struggle with clearly describing my week, Irene tries to understand my perspective or context to the situation that I am in. I don't feel like she is judging me and I can be authentic

Irene listened attentively and was warm and accepting for all that was shared in our initial meeting.
