Hello , I am a licensed social worker based in Ohio. And I also am licensed in California. I have been practicing for close to 40 years, so have a great deal of professional and life experience, that I can apply to my work with clients. I am motivated to help adults of any age, move forward with their lives. And also there to help clients develop healthy skills that they can utilize, to become their "best selves." My approach tends to be more short term and solution focused. I also see myself as a life coach for many of my clients. I am a regular practitioner of yoga and meditation and enjoy bringing elements of these practices into my work as well. I also love animals and enjoy hiking and biking in nature. *I do not work with clients who have HIGH RISK CONCERNS, such as recent suicidality, recent psychiatric hospitalization, domestic violence or substance abuse issues. Since I feel clients managing these issues, are better served seeing providers in a traditional office setting and more wrap around services. Clients who book with me presenting with these high risk concerns will have to be referred out by me to other providers or more appropriate resources in their community.
I believe healing happens best in a space where you can feel safe, seen and cared for and in our first session, I try to really hear and understand, what issues you are most concerned about and to understand specific challenges you may be facing. I then can work with you to develop goals to get you on your way to a healthier life and manage the stressors that you are dealing with.
I have many years of experience in the mental health field working in a variety of settings with diverse populations. And years of life experience. I am very goal oriented, pragmatic and focus on helping clients learn tools and strategies to help them manage the issues that are challenging them. Additionally, I feel my role is not to "fix" you, but to walk alongside with you and help you make sense of your personal story and concerns.
I feel I am best served to help clients who are motivated to change, who want to move forward with their lives and who want to develop clear therapy goals. And clients who are looking for short term/solution focused therapy. I operate more as a life coach and enjoy helping my clients find practical ways and strategies to move forward with their lives. I specialize with clients who have anxiety, OCD, relationship issues, various life challenges, heath concerns and grief/loss.

I have been trained intensively and utilize CBT skills to help my clients change and challenge unhealthy thinking and behavioral patterns in various areas of their lives. Ultimately I strive to help my clients learn how to challenge life traps and thinking patterns that are keeping them stuck. CBT approaches can be very helpful for those especially experiencing depression, anxiety and OCD. I have years of training and experience utilizing CBT approaches.
I have been trained intensively in mindfulness and utilize mindfulness based approaches with my clients to help them become more grounded and present, which allows then to better manage their stressors and mental health issues. This approach helps individuals break free from chronic ruminative, and automatic negative thought patterns. It is helpful for all of us and especially beneficial for depression, OCD, anxiety and stress.
I have been trained and utilize many skills from DBT to help my clients. DBT is a structured, evidence based psychotherapy adapted from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy designed to help people manage intense emotions, reduce self harming behaviors and build a "life worth living." DBT focuses on the "dialectical" balance between validating/accepting emotions and implementing positive behavioral changes. And also focuses on strategies to manage emotions, distress tolerance and improve interpersonal skills. Helpful tools for all of us.
Somatic therapy is a body centered approach to psychotherapy that helps you process trauma, chronic stress and intense emotions by focusing on physical sensations in the body. I utilize my years of meditation, yoga and other trainings to help clients learn and practice somatic practices, such as body awareness exercises, nervous system regulation and titration and pendulation exercises.
I have had training in various modalities to help those who are experiencing grief issues. Including cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic therapy and expressive therapies to manage grief. I also work with clients who are experiencing a range of different types of loss situations. Including pet loss, suicide, unexpected loss and caregiver loss to name a few.
