Steph Oliverio
Hi! I'm Steph! I have been a therapist since receiving my master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seton Hill University in 2020. I have a strong passion for helping clients create meaningful change in their lives. My experience in community mental health has allowed me to support clients working through addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-worth, and major life transitions. I understand that these challenges can feel heavy, overwhelming, and isolating, and I strive to provide a safe space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported. I enjoy working with clients who are motivated to better understand themselves, build healthier coping skills, and move toward healing and growth. I have special interest, experience, and training in helping clients struggling with self-worth, addiction, healthy relationships, anxiety and trauma. I have experience in helping clients address concerns related to creating stronger relationships and improving anxiety and self-worth. In therapy, I help clients explore intrusive thoughts and childhood messages, identify their strengths, and create realistic steps toward lasting change. My approach is warm, collaborative, and compassionate, with a focus on helping clients feel more confident, grounded, and in control of their lives. If you are ready to begin your healing journey, I would be honored to support you in getting back to your best self.
First session
Our first session is focused on getting to know each other and beginning to build a safe, supportive, and trusting therapeutic relationship. I believe the therapy relationship is an important place where we can begin practicing new ways of communicating, coping, and creating change. During this session, I will ask questions to learn more about you, your experiences, and what brought you to therapy. We will move at your pace, and you are always welcome to share only what feels comfortable. If there is something you are not ready to talk about yet, that is completely okay. I also welcome your questions about me, my approach, and my therapy style so we can make sure working together feels like a good fit. We will begin identifying your goals, as well as the strengths you already have that can help us work toward those goals together.
Strengths
I share my honest feedback about observations in relational and behavioral patterns with warmth and create space for reflection and discussion to help you create lasting change.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are people who are motivated and ready to make meaningful changes in their lives. I enjoy working with clients who want support in managing anxiety, addiction, trauma, perfectionism, and major life transitions. These clients may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of their next steps, but they are open to learning new skills, exploring their experiences, and working toward healing and growth.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients increase awareness to their thought patterns, explore their emotions deeper, and learn more about their behaviors. With this knowledge, clients will be able to reframe their thoughts, manage their emotions, and create change in their patterns of behavior in their daily life and within their relationships.
Feminist
Feminist therapy is a counseling approach I use to help clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. In sessions, I work with clients to explore how their personal experiences may be affected by relationships, culture, gender roles, power, and social expectations. Together, we focus on building self-awareness, confidence, and personal choice. This approach helps clients recognize their strengths, challenge limiting beliefs, and create changes that support their well-being and sense of identity.
Trauma Informed Care
Trauma-informed care is an approach I use to help clients feel safe, respected, and supported throughout therapy. In sessions, I focus on understanding how past experiences may affect a client’s emotions, relationships, and daily life. I work at the client’s pace, offer choice, and build trust through compassion and collaboration. This approach helps clients feel more empowered, reduce shame, and develop healthier ways to cope, heal, and move forward.
