Welcome to Grow Therapy! I'm Frank J. Gallo, a licensed psychologist here to help you perform better and live a more meaningful life. I am licensed in Rhode Island (PS02017) and Massachusetts (PSY9800). I use effective, science-based methods to help professionals in all fields—including government, defense, technology, finance, and healthcare—overcome challenges and reach their full potential. If you're looking for an experienced leader and clinical trainer to help you achieve higher performance and purpose, I'm here for you. To learn more about my practice, what you'll learn in therapy, and resources available to you during and after therapy, you may visit my website at https://frankjgallo.com.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
My approach to treatment uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an effective science-backed treatment. You can expect to develop mental flexibility by learning to take meaningful action in your life, even when faced with challenges. We'll focus on practical strategies like acceptance and change to help you embrace your thoughts and feelings, identify your core values, and set achievable goals. This therapy addresses your larger behavioral patterns, not just quick fixes, so you can start living a life that truly aligns with what matters to you. While it requires a willingness to work hard and face discomfort—it's not about avoiding pain—this effort is always in the service of the life you want to live. If you're ready to put in the effort, practice new skills, and be open to change, ACT can help you break free from old cycles and start living more fully, right now.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Choose me as your therapist for a practical, direct approach centered on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which stands out for its commitment to genuine empowerment, acceptance, and change. My method uses collaborative experiential exercises to help you explore how your thoughts, feelings, and actions align with your values in real-life situations. The result is a journey toward “valued living,” where you learn to navigate life’s challenges with purpose. Our work is built on a collaborative environment that encourages candidness and feedback, ensuring a strong working alliance and trust, making me an excellent choice to guide your personal growth.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I primarily work with people struggling with anxiety-related problems, anger, or post-traumatic stress affecting their lives. If you often feel overwhelmed by worry, struggle with intense anger, or are dealing with the lasting effects of trauma, you are who I am here to help. My approach, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), is ideal for those willing to try new ways of dealing with difficult feelings rather than just trying to “get rid” of them. If your goal is to stop letting tough thoughts and emotions control your life, and you want to start taking action now to build a life that truly aligns with your personal values—like interacting with your coworkers effectively or caring for your kids lovingly—then you are an excellent fit for my practice. I’m best positioned to serve people ready to be open and learn how to live a meaningful, fulfilling life, even when things are hard.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
My core approach is to use scientifically supported acceptance and change principles and practices to help you develop mental flexibility, enabling you to take action toward what matters to you despite the inevitable pain that comes with caring. In our work, you’ll explore the helpfulness of your thoughts, feelings, and actions in responding to life situations in a way aligned with your values. You’ll learn strategies and behaviors to embrace thoughts and feelings, identify what matters to you, and set achievable goals. Together, we’ll identify tools that enhance your resilience and adaptability, helping you take action toward living more fully on purpose.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I use scientifically supported mindfulness-based principles and practices to help you further develop and strengthen your mental flexibility, enabling you to adapt to situational demands with awareness and openness. Treatment also includes breathing and relaxation strategies and exercises. Mindfulness, breathing, and relaxation help you navigate life’s challenges, fostering mental agility, emotional resilience, and overall well-being.
Prolonged Exposure Therapy
Prolonged exposure therapy is a scientifically supported treatment for people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In therapy, you’ll confront, in a safe and controlled way, memories, feelings, and situations related to a trauma you’ve experienced. This process can help reduce the power these traumatic experiences have over you. Over time, it can decrease symptoms of PTSD, such as anxiety and avoidance, and improve your overall mental health.
