My name is Elizabeth Garcia, and I am a proud first-generation Latina with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. I specialize in supporting individuals, couples, and families as they heal from trauma, navigate parenting challenges, manage anxiety, and adjust to life’s many transitions. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, heard and supported. Life can feel overwhelming when you're carrying the weight of past experiences, struggling to set healthy boundaries, or trying to care for everyone else while neglecting your own needs. You don't have to navigate those challenges alone. Together, we can explore what’s holding you back, build on your strengths, and work toward meaningful, lasting change. I am especially passionate about supporting those who are breaking generational cycles. Many of us were raised to survive, not always to heal. Choosing a different path takes courage, and I am honored to walk alongside clients as they process their experiences, rediscover their strengths, and create healthier relationships with themselves and their loved ones. Together, we can build a future rooted in healing, resilience, and hope, for you and for the generations that follow.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is a chance for us to begin building a foundation of trust and understanding. I’ll guide you through a comprehensive assessment where we’ll explore your goals for therapy, current challenges, and any key aspects of your background; including childhood experiences that may still be shaping your adult life. This is a space for you to feel heard, supported, and safe as we begin to connect the dots and set the direction for your healing journey.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring a collaborative, trauma-informed approach that’s grounded in psychodynamic, attachment, and family systems theories. I truly believe you are the expert of your life. My role isn’t to “fix” you or tell you what to do, it’s to walk with you, offer support, and help make sense of the hard stuff. I show up as a human first, using humor, empathy, and authenticity to create a safe, non-judgmental space where healing can happen without power dynamics. Together, we'll explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, strengthen the resilience you already possess, and develop practical tools that support your emotional well-being, relationships, and personal growth. Whether you're healing from trauma, learning to set healthy boundaries without guilt, or working to break generational cycles, I will meet you with curiosity, compassion, and unwavering support. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling understood, empowered, and equipped with the insight and confidence to create lasting change.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

I work with you to explore the deeper roots of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors by uncovering how past experiences shape your present challenges. This is an approach to understand yourself on a deeper level and process childhood wounds that show up in adulthood.

Attachment-based

I help families and individuals build resilience, restore connection, develop healthy attachments and heal from generational trauma. I help clients explore how those early bonds may be influencing current struggles with trust, intimacy, self-worth, or emotional regulation. Together, we’ll build emotional skills and create lasting change.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help you explore how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns, often called cognitive distortions and use practical tools to work through them. We also look at how certain thoughts can intensify emotions, and practice ways to challenge and reframe them. By learning these skills, you can begin to ease symptoms, feel more balanced, and create lasting, positive change in your life.

Trauma Informed Care

In my work, I use a Trauma-Informed Care approach, which means I understand that past painful or overwhelming experiences can shape how we see ourselves, relate to others, and respond to the world. I prioritize creating a safe, supportive space where you feel respected, empowered, and in control of your healing process. Part of this work involves gently re-establishing a sense of safety within your body after trauma, helping you reconnect with yourself in a way that feels grounding and secure. Together, we’ll explore your experiences at a pace that feels comfortable, build tools to manage triggers, and strengthen your resilience so you can move forward feeling grounded and supported.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I use EFT to help you better understand and express your emotions in a way that strengthens your connection to yourself and others. This approach focuses on identifying the emotional patterns that shape how you relate, especially in important relationships, and uncovering the deeper needs beneath those emotions. Together, we’ll create a safe space to explore and share those feelings, repair emotional bonds, and build new patterns of connection, trust, and security.
