My name is Danielle DaRocha and I am from Puerto Rico. I have been practicing mental health counseling for about 10 years. I love my culture and my work and often try and bring culture and fun into my sessions with clients. I like to use humor to help clients feel safe and comfortable and I will often use metaphors for guided learning. I am a bookworm and will on occasion recommend helpful reading material to my clients.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In my initial session(s) with clients I make every effort to get to know you and make you feel safe and comfortable. We may play a game or use "talking point" tools to engage in conversation. I encourage clients to ask me questions and open up about their experience with therapy. In helping you heal and learn about yourself it is crucial for me to understand your morals and values, how you thin and problem solve, and how you destress. I look forward to getting to know the whole person, not just the presenting problem.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Some of my greatest strengths as a provider are my ability to adapt my methodology to the clients needs, I am flexible in my approaches to therapy and helping a client find ways that works for them to heal and cope. I challenge with empathy. I help clients feel safe to explore and be vulnerable with themselves. I can be funny and sarcastic and I find this helps people relax and open up in sessions. Im honest, my thoughts and skills are yours to learn.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Most of my clinical and professional experience has allowed me to work with adolescents and young adults. I have worked in many forms of practices including: group home and intensive residential treatment programs, hospital level of care as well as in-home and community services. Currently I work in an outpatient setting to meet with clients. The clients Ive worked with historically have a combination of the following symptoms and diagnoses: depression ,anxiety, suicidal ideation, OCD, disordered eating, childhood trauma, adjustment and mood disorders, and self-harming behaviors
