Hello, my name is Dr. Jomo Thomas. If you are looking to improve your sense of self and strengthen and enhance your relationships utilizing a holistic approach to mental health care, then I that I can be a great resource for you. I have been a Marriage and Family Therapist for almost 20 years. I am a US Army veteran and I enjoy exercising, reading, and traveling. In addition to having a degree in counseling, I also possess a degree in Theology from Moody Seminary and, I specialize in providing Christian counseling and Biblical counseling. My behavioral health clinical specializations include treating individuals with substance use disorders and mood disorders to include anxiety and depression. I also enjoy working with professionals who are dealing with workplace and career challenges. I also work with adolescents and young adults.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, I aim to understand you and what you hope to achieve from therapy. We will generally use the session to become acquainted with one another.

Structural Family Therapy

I am classically trained as a structural family therapist. In. Structural therapy. All families have rules and organizational patterns. Who handles the money, etc, and what are the known and unknown rules? However, I have also been trained in many other methodologies, including CBT, Solutions Focused, Gottman, and Social Learning Theory.

Christian Counseling

I have 30 years of experience providing Christian Counseling using the Bible as the primary guide to healthy individual and family functioning. I have a Master's Degree in Theology from Moody Bible College.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

I have been trained in Family First, Parent Management Training Oregon Model, and Multi-systemic Therapy. I utilize a strength-based parenting methodology, meaning I strive to empower the parent's leadership in the home.

Couples Counseling

I used an integrated model to work with couples, integrating Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman and Solution Focused Therapy

Gottman method

I utilize the Gottman method and interventions in my couple's work.
