Hello, my name is Cherry and I have been in the mental health field for over 20 years. I have worked with clients of all ages from infants to older adults. I have lived all across the country and in Asia. I am trilingual in English, Thai, and Lao. My therapeutic style is influenced by both Western and Eastern cultures and worldviews. Currently, I am accepting clients and I welcome the opportunity to meet you and see if we are a good fit.
In our first session, we'll begin with introductions, gather information, and discuss specific struggles you're facing. We will review or develop your goals together. Since therapy is a process, you can modify your goals along the way. A search for therapist is personal and it's important to find a good fit. I recognize that and I support your decision.
My greatest strength is the ability to empathize with people of many backgrounds. My open-mindedness and authenticity help people feel comfortable with sharing parts of themselves without being judged.
My "ideal" clients are those that are ready to make changes in their lives by replacing outdated ways of thinking and behaving that no longer serve them with ones that foster growth and healing. They are able to participate meaningfully in session and are also receptive to feedback.
I utilize CBT to counter distorted beliefs that negatively impact how you feel about yourself, your life, and others. Sometimes we are convinced that our "feelings" are facts however without all the information, we may jump to conclusions, have rigid ways of thinking, generalize, and expect the worse-case scenario. I wok with you to unlearn these unhealthful patterns of thinking.
Narrative Therapy empowers you to externalize your problems and rewrite your negative stories into optimistic and hopeful ones. Together, we develop new perspectives that promote a sense of agency.
Multicultural Therapy is rooted in appreciating your unique background that influences your worldview. I celebrate you and your culture-I want to learn about the richness of your experiences and struggles you face.
