Hello. I'm Cameron and I strive to be very relatable. I have a deep commitment to supporting neurodivergent individuals, trans and gender diverse individuals, BIPOC clients, and veterans. I believe the development of our identities is fluid and ever evolving. I believe that everyone deserves a warm and affirming space to explore who they are, including how their identities develop and express themselves, and to honor their story. Everyone deserves an opportunity to build resilience in the face of systemic challenges. Everyone deserves the chance to thrive. My work is grounded in a gender-affirmative, trauma-responsive approach, informed by social justice and intersectionality frameworks. Rather than work as a purist, I often utilize eclectic approaches that include motivational interviewing, humanistic, solution focused, family systems, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and somatic approaches. I am neurodivergent, and I bring both lived experience and clinical expertise to my niche specialty. If you are struggling with discrimination, trauma, chronic and ongoing anxiety and stress, let me guide you into developing self-trust, self-regulation, and meaningful change.

First session

Our first session, or intake, will include gathering information about you, and an opportunity for you to ask questions about me, clarifying ethical standards, and developing your therapy goals. This will continue into the second session, as well as gathering a brief history.

Strengths

My approach tends to be slightly on the directive side of a center line between completely directive and completely non-directive. I try to read what the client needs and I check out my assumptions by asking questions for clarity. I am told I'm relatable, and I try to keep that at the forefront of my work.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is one who is curious, and a client who most of all wants to be in counseling or therapy. If a client does not want to be in counseling or therapy and is being forced to attend, that makes it very difficult as a therapist to work with them. It takes a collaborative process for therapy to be successful.

Treatment methods

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

For every mental health condition, there is a way that our cultural backgrounds influence how we experience and express these conditions, and sometimes cultural influences make these conditions look very different from individual to individual. My therapeutic approach will ask the question - how does the intersectionality of my client's culture(s) and identities affect how the mental health condition looks to me, to them, to the community? And how does culture and identity affect how the condition is experienced for the client? Are we observing a cultural phenomenon or is this a mental health condition, or both? These are the questions I consider and contemplate with my clients' input.
