I am an LPC with a PhD in psychology from Walden University. I have been counseling for almost 20 years. Before that, I was a teacher working with students with emotional concerns and their families. I know that it can be very difficult to take the first step to seek counseling. My intent the moment you “walk through the door” is for you to feel safe, cared for, listened to, and above all, understood. I am not here to judge or condemn. We all have our stuff. Life gets messy. Life can be complicated. I grew up in a Christian family riddled with dysfunction; alcoholism, addiction, anxiety, chronic pain, depression, suicidal ideation, and chronic medical issues. I have also worked in the educational sector with children with behavior issues, ADHD, ODD, OCD, attachment disorder, autism, as well as anxiety and depression. I am a people person. I am empathetic, I listen, I am real, and I can help.
In our first session, we'll start with brief introductions, your familiarity, concerns, and goals with counseling, and then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
My strengths are first to earn your trust, so you can feel heard and understood, and then to build self-esteem and confidence back into your life, utilizing real life skills that can help you with what you need. I employ strength-based methods that focus on positivity, short-term, solution-based, and action-oriented processing. I help clients bust through their own self-induced hypnotic state of settling for less in life than their true abilities are capable of and help them see life from a different perspective.
I love working with clients of all ages with varying needs. I appreciate the variety of topics and needs. I enjoy conversations that challenge foundational thinking, bring rise to new solutions, and alleviate issues and concerns. My clients are eager to get unstuck and are motivated to learn new coping techniques that bring awareness and the ability to move forward.

Donna immediately created a space that is easy to communicate in, without judgement. Speaking with her, I felt that she carries an attentiveness and understanding that I hope resonates with other clients like it did with me. We clicked right away, building an easy report over the first session. She's helped me reframe a lot of things already, and gives me hope for achieving the goals I have for therapy. I'm excited to continue working with her for as long as the journey goes.

She was very kind and really seemed like she wanted to understand and help her clients! I look forward to our next session as 1 session isnt enough to get a full understanding how your own self works. I feel like she really wanted to help empower myself to grow and be a better human being to all.
