(she/her)
I am wired for hearing about struggle, metabolizing it and offering a listening ear or practical guidance. My extensive experience enables me to create a comfortable space quickly so we are able to identify and work on your therapy goals without delay. Former clients praise my attentive listening, sense of humor and ability to offer straightforward, effective solutions for achieving peace. I was born and raised in the DMV and later relocated to Florida to leave behind icy sidewalks and Beltway traffic. While the political climate here doesn’t always align with my values, telehealth has allowed me to stay connected with and support individuals whose perspectives resonate with my own. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 16 years of experience. I am an EMDRIA trained EMDR practitioner working toward certification. I offer telehealth appointments to residents of Florida, Maryland and Virginia and limited in person sessions for residents of Florida. My work focuses on anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, long-term recovery from substance abuse, adoption triad issues, LGBTQ+ concerns, racial discrimination, grief, and burnout. I provide compassionate, down-to-earth guidance to help you move forward with clarity and confidence. My approach is client-centered. I use trauma-informed and strength based interventions to help my clients feel empowered and find peace.
Our initial session will involve a discussion of boundaries and expectations for our work together. We’ll explore what’s bringing you to therapy at this time and determine whether you feel I’m the right fit for your journey. The first session is a bit different from ongoing sessions, as we’ll need to review and complete some required paperwork and background information. While there’s a bit more structure to cover, I make every effort to keep the process comfortable, collaborative, and meaningful so we can begin building a strong foundation for our work together.
I specialize in supporting adults who are navigating life transitions and realizing that what used to work… just doesn’t anymore. If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or like you should have it figured out by now but don’t, I can help with that. I work with anxiety, depression, burnout, and that frustrating space where you feel unmotivated, unfocused, and not quite like yourself. Together, we’ll figure out what’s actually going on underneath the surface and create real, practical shifts that make your day-to-day life feel more manageable. My style is straightforward, collaborative, and very human. I’m not the kind of therapist who just nods silently and asks, “And how does that make you feel?” I’ll challenge you when needed, support you always, and yes, there may be some humor and occasional swearing along the way. I believe therapy should feel like a place where you can be real, not perform. You’ll get both: someone who is highly skilled and knows what they’re doing, and someone who feels approachable, relatable, and easy to talk to. If you’re ready to understand yourself better and actually do something about it, we’ll be a good fit.
I like to work with clients from diverse backgrounds. Folks that are new to therapy and those that are veterans to therapy will see that I can quickly help you identify your goals. I have extensive experience working with people in long term recovery and can help fill in the gaps that their program isn't quite fulfilling. I am a good fit for folks who appreciate direct, practical and insightful solutions. For adults in long term recovery in AA & NA seeking "outside help", I provide a listening ear and practical guidance, incorporating the principles of the steps into our collaborative work. I am good at my job and I genuinely enjoy partnering with people to reach their goals. Click the link or make the call and lets find out if my approach can work for you.

First meeting, I appreciate Kecia's listening, even when I got off track. She is very insightful and was on point even within the first half hour. Kecia made me feel comfortable and hopeful. I'm so looking forward to the next session.
